Cloud Engineer

Our client is a Dutch family-owned manufacturer of special transport vehicles and environmental loading systems deployed by logistics operators and municipalities worldwide. Founded in the 1800's, they have grown to over 3,000 employees across 15 countries and 4 operating divisions. They are in the middle of a deliberate digital transformation. Telematics platforms, connected vehicle data, and global service operations all run on cloud infrastructure that is actively being built out. A key pillar of this transformation is the ongoing migration of multiple ERPs across divisions to Microsoft Dynamics 365. This is not a caretaker role because foundational architectural decisions are still being made. 🎯 WHAT YOU'LL DO – Design and maintain multi-cloud architecture (primarily Azure, with AWS workloads) across all divisions – Build and manage CI/CD pipelines with software engineering teams (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) – Own the infrastructure-as-code codebase: Terraform and Azure Bicep – Architect and operate container platforms (Kubernetes / AKS) for production services – Manage IoT ingestion pipelines for vehicle fleet telematics: Azure IoT Hub, Event Hubs – Lead cloud security and compliance: identity, network segmentation, GDPR across jurisdictions – Drive FinOps: cost allocation, waste identification, reserved capacity planning – Set up observability stacks and define SLOs for critical platform services – Contribute to disaster recovery planning and DR exercises across international infrastructure ⚙️ TECH STACK Azure · Microsoft Dynamics 365 · Terraform · Kubernetes/AKS · Azure DevOps · GitHub Actions · Azure Bicep · Azure IoT Hub · Event Hubs · Entra ID · Python · PowerShell · Docker · Prometheus/Grafana · Azure Monitor · Log Analytics · SAP (integration layer) ✅ REQUIRED – 7+ years in cloud engineering or DevOps in production environments – Solid hands-on experience with Azure (compute, networking, storage, identity) – Infrastructure-as-code: Terraform and/or Bicep – Container orchestration: Kubernetes in any managed form (AKS, EKS, GKE) – CI/CD pipeline design and maintenance – Scripting in Python or PowerShell – Security foundations: RBAC, network security groups, secrets management – Strong written and spoken English; Dutch is an advantage 💡 NICE TO HAVE – Azure certification (AZ-104, AZ-305) or equivalent AWS cert – Experience with IoT or industrial telemetry platforms – FinOps practices and cloud cost governance – Background in manufacturing, logistics, or OT environments – Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (implementation, integration, or migration) – SAP integration or ERP connectivity – Familiarity with ISO 27001 or NIS2 – Multi-entity, multi-country IT environments 🎁 WHAT'S ON OFFER – Greenfield cloud platform: your architecture decisions will stand for years – 25 vacation days + ATV reduction days (Dutch CAO) – Hybrid working: 2–3 days in Utrecht – Learning budget and certification costs covered – Company car or mobility allowance – Pension plan via Metaal & Techniek sector fund – Small IT team with direct access to stakeholders
