We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Engineer to join our team, focusing on building resilient systems that support our global post-trade operations. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade software with an emphasis on performance, reliability, and clean engineering practices. The Post Trade Accounting (PTA) division is a strategic focus within BlackRock's Aladdin platform, responsible for ensuring accurate, scalable, and efficient accounting across our global operations. The team is expanding into data analytics and pipeline initiatives utilizing Snowflake, Redis, and distributed event streaming platforms to manage high-volume, real-time data flows. Collaborating closely with product, operations, and other engineering teams, you will contribute to delivering critical business capabilities in a dynamic, agile environment that values technical depth, quality, and innovation. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, coupled with at least four years of professional experience in Java development and object-oriented design. Strong expertise in Spring Boot, REST API development, and enterprise integration patterns is essential. You should have a deep understanding of SQL Server, including stored procedures, performance tuning, and data modeling, along with hands-on experience with Redis for caching or data persistence. Experience with distributed event streaming and messaging platforms, such as Kafka or similar publish-subscribe systems, is required. Familiarity with Snowflake and data pipeline concepts, including ETL processes and streaming data, is highly desirable. Knowledge of front-end technologies like Angular or React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML/CSS, is a plus. Additionally, a strong focus on clean architecture, maintainability, and production readiness is necessary, along with excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset. Responsibilities Design and develop high-performance, reliable backend systems utilizing Java 11+ and Spring Boot, ensuring they meet enterprise standards. Participate actively in design discussions, code reviews, and architecture sessions, bringing a hands-on approach to problem-solving. Build and maintain microservices and event-driven systems to process large-scale financial data efficiently and securely. Develop data integration components that connect various systems across Snowflake, SQL Server, and real-time streaming platforms, ensuring seamless data flow and integrity. Implement and optimize Redis-based caching solutions to support low-latency access patterns critical to financial operations. Contribute to the full development lifecycle, including creating lightweight UI updates when necessary, leveraging AI-assisted coding tools and collaborating with front-end teams. Champion best practices in code quality, testing, automation, and performance tuning to maintain high standards. Elevate technical craftsmanship by sharing expertise, problem-solving, and applying design thinking. Work cross-functionally with product managers, operations teams, and other engineering groups to ensure technical solutions align with business objectives and deliver value efficiently.
