About The Role Northrop Grumman's Space Systems Sector is seeking an experienced Principal or Senior Principal DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex, mission-critical systems supporting national security and space exploration initiatives. The position can be based in Aurora, CO, Morrisville, NC, or Sacramento, CA, providing flexibility for qualified candidates. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable infrastructure and automation pipelines to support rapid capability development and deployment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize software delivery processes, enhance system performance, and ensure security compliance. This role requires a proactive approach, technical expertise, and a passion for innovation to help drive the future of space and defense technology. Qualifications The successful candidate must possess an active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI access. A current CI Polygraph is also required. Citizenship in the United States is mandatory. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience for Principal level or 8 years for Senior Principal, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree. Proficiency in AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform is essential. Additionally, experience with Linux or related operating systems, Agile software development methodologies, and automation scripting is required. Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment, possess strong problem-solving skills, and have a security certification such as Security+ or be able to obtain it within six months. Preferred qualifications include expertise in Kubernetes administration, AWS management, Flux, Helm, DynamoDB, and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and Loki. Responsibilities Plan, develop, and evolve processes and infrastructure to support rapid capability maturation and deployment of programs.Integrate development pipelines utilizing automation, test-driven development, and continuous integration/test frameworks to streamline software delivery.Define and implement standards for build, deployment, provisioning, and monitoring to ensure consistency and security across projects.Maintain and improve Software Configuration Management (SCM), code quality, and automated testing practices within CI/CD pipelines.Collaborate with Agile development teams to automate deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management tasks, ensuring seamless integration and delivery.Create scripts and templates to automate infrastructure provisioning and management activities.Work closely with development teams and vendors to troubleshoot issues, optimize system performance, and implement solutions.Monitor, support, and troubleshoot all installed systems and infrastructure components, ensuring high availability and security.Develop custom automation scripts to increase operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention.Contribute to the design and implementation of information and operational support systems.Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.Oversee security strategies, backup protocols, and redundancy measures to safeguard critical systems and data.Evaluate application performance, identify bottlenecks, and develop solutions in collaboration with developers and system administrators.
