About The Role We are seeking a talented and experienced Principal DevOps Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to lead and drive the DevOps and SRE initiatives for our multi-tenant SaaS platform. The Principal DevOps Engineer will be instrumental in designing our engineering platform, establishing standards, and developing automation processes to enable product teams to build, test, and deploy independently and securely. This role is highly hands-on and influential, working closely with engineering teams to create self-service pipelines and infrastructure that production teams can confidently operate. Based in our Boston, MA office, this position offers a flexible hybrid work model, combining in-office collaboration with remote work flexibility. Qualifications Required Qualifications 10+ years of experience in DevOps or Platform Engineering, including at least 5 years in a senior or lead capacity.3+ years of designing and operating solutions on AWS cloud services and architecture.Strong software engineering background with 5+ years of hands-on development experience in Python, Java, or similar languages.Proven expertise in architecting, building, and deploying microservices within distributed, production environments.2+ years of practical experience with GitHub Enterprise, including Actions and branch rulesets.Experience designing scalable microservices architectures for independent deployability.Extensive experience in developing large-scale CI/CD and release engineering infrastructure.Demonstrated ability to establish and enforce repository standards, naming conventions, and governance policies at scale.Expert proficiency with Terraform for infrastructure as code at scale.Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.Excellent communication skills, capable of providing technical leadership and collaborating effectively across teams. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or Solutions Architect certification.Experience with developer platform tools such as Backstage for service catalogs.Familiarity with Azure DevOps for work management.Experience implementing DORA metrics and other DevOps performance indicators. Responsibilities Design and evolve a modern DevOps platform that empowers engineering teams to own their build, test, and deployment workflows from end to end.Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions for microservices, data workloads, and batch jobs, emphasizing self-service and repeatability.Define and enforce repository and branching standards, code quality practices, and automation patterns across multiple engineering teams to ensure consistency and reliability.Architect and implement infrastructure as code solutions using AWS CDK and Terraform to facilitate consistent, auditable environment provisioning.Partner with production and IT operations teams by providing automated deployment workflows and infrastructure patterns, enabling them to operate production environments confidently.Collaborate with architects and senior engineers to set the technical direction, focusing on resiliency, security, and scalability of the platform.Drive best practices around observability and reliability, including dashboards, alerts, logs, and traces, to provide production teams with comprehensive operational insights.Create clear documentation, reference implementations, and templates to accelerate adoption of common patterns and practices across teams.Mentor and coach engineers through pairing, code reviews, and design reviews, contributing to the overall maturity and capability of the DevOps organization.
