Founding Engineer

About Awtomated Awtomated is building a modern business platform for small and mid-sized language service providers (LSPs). LSPs manage clients, projects, vendors, files, deadlines, quality, invoicing and translation workflows across multiple tools. Awtomated brings these operations together in one platform, combining business management, project management, translation workflows, automation and AI. We already have customers in more than 15 countries and, following our recent seed funding, we are now investing heavily in product development and international growth. The Role We are looking for a Founding Engineer to join us at an important stage of the company. You won't just be implementing tickets. You'll work directly with the founder to understand problems, make technical decisions, build solutions and get them into the hands of customers. We are looking for a strong generalist engineer with a backend focus who is comfortable moving across the stack when the product requires it. You will have significant ownership over how we build and scale Awtomated. What You'll Work On Backend & APIs: Build reliable services, APIs, business logic and integrations powering the platform.Architecture & Data: Design data models and systems that can support a growing SaaS platform.End-to-End Product Development: Take features from idea to production — from technical design and implementation to testing and deployment.AI & Automation: Build practical AI-powered features and automated workflows that solve real customer problems.Frontend: Contribute to our web application when needed. You don't need to be a frontend specialist, but you should be comfortable working across the product.Infrastructure: Work with deployments, CI/CD, monitoring, performance and reliability.Customer Problems: Investigate real customer issues and turn feedback into better products.Prototyping: Quickly test new ideas and technical approaches before turning them into production systems. What We're Looking For 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building production software.Strong backend engineering fundamentals and experience designing APIs, services and data models.Strong experience with Python and SQL or comparable technologies.Experience with modern web applications and the ability to work across the stack.Experience with production systems, debugging, deployments and reliability.Comfortable working with APIs, integrations, asynchronous workflows and third-party services.Experience with AI/LLM applications or automation is a strong plus.Strong product sense — you care about what we're building and why, not just how.High ownership and initiative.
