Envision yourself at Barracuda The Cloud-to-Cloud Backup team is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team in Barracuda's Data Protection division. You'll be part of the team building the next generation of our Cloud-to-Cloud Backup product, which serves to protect our customers' Microsoft 365 emails, files, and historical revisions against accidental or malicious data loss for purposes of backup, compliance, and disaster recovery. You will work to design, develop, test, debug, deploy, maintain and improve the core backend services while working closely with the frontend and QA teams. The technologies you'll be using include Kubernetes, Docker, gRPC, and Azure Cloud Services, including Cosmos DB, Blob storage, and AKS. What You’ll Be Working On Design, implement and test features, improvements and optimizations for the productFind and fix bugs in production and development environmentsUphold high standards for code quality and architecture, including the use of SOLID design principlesMentor team members in design and development best practicesThoughtfully give, and gracefully receive, rigorous code reviewsDevelop and interpret metrics to monitor production system performanceOn-call rotation for the services your team is responsible forDocument and communicate research and results What You Bring To The Role Bachelor's degree in a technology field, or equivalent work experience5+ years of software development experience in object-oriented programming (C#, C++, Java)Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, including root cause analysisCuriosity and drive to learn and investigate unfamiliar systemsDemonstrated ability to design and deliver moderately complex systems independentlyDepth in at least one specialty (backend, frontend, data, security analytics, cloud, or ML/AI integration) plus broad system-level fluencyProficiency in C#, Go, or Rust is strongly preferred, with an enthusiasm to learn the othersProficiency in developing software in a Linux/Unix environmentProficiency in using GitExperience with agentic AI development preferredExperience writing automated tests (unit, component, integration, and end-to-end)Experience building and deploying applications in the public cloudExperience building and using Docker containersExcellent written and verbal technical communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences The Following Are Considered a Plus Kubernetes and Terraform experiencegRPC experienceAzure cloud services experience (Blob, Cosmos DB, AKS)Experience logging, monitoring, and tracing microservices in production What You’ll Get From Us A team where you can voice your opinion, make an impact, and where you and your experience are valued.
