About the Role
Are you ready to build and scale the engine that powers our business growth? We’re looking for a sharp, passionate Backend / Database Engineer to join our close-knit Billing Engineering team in Austin, TX!
In this role, you won't just be pushing code; instead, you’ll be a core architect behind our mission-critical recurring billing platform, e-commerce store, and order fulfillment systems.
Working side-by-side with our Engineering Lead, you’ll dive into high-impact challenges, tackle complex data architectures, and build slick, rock-solid APIs that keep our entire ecosystem running at peak performance.

Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable backend systems, database schemas, and APIs powering our recurring subscription billing platform, sales quoting/ordering engines, and the Brivo Store.Develop backend solutions to support ordering and fulfillment for Sales Orders across external and internal order systems.Lead database schema design, data modeling, and SQL query optimization to ensure high availability, data integrity, and performance.Maintain and enhance workflows for connected business systems, including Shipping, Finished Goods Inventory, Billing Reports, and Finance operations.Take full ownership of the development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, development, rigorous QA testing, and ongoing system maintenance.Participate in code reviews, system troubleshooting, and continuous architecture improvements.
Qualifications & Requirements
5+ years of hands-on database experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred), including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.Strong proficiency in Python for backend engineering and API development.Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.Proven track record building, maintaining, and troubleshooting real-world production systems.Must be based in (or relocating to) Austin, TX for full-time, on-site work.

The compensation for this full time salaried role ranges between $130,000-$150,000.
Individual compensation packages are based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, training, and market conditions.
