About Us
Ambitious marketing for ambitious people
We are the marketing team for entrepreneurs, owner-managers and private capital.
Acting as an extension of our clients' marketing teams and, in most cases, as their entire in-house marketing team we have a track record of using marketing to scale fast.
Our clients are ambitious SMEs, typically turning over £350k and up, with plans to scale several times over.
We adopt a scientific approach to marketing.
We start at the bottom of the funnel, capturing demand that already exists, then building demand in a way that works commercially for the business.
We adopt a digital-first approach to delivery, using digital tools, automation and AI to amplify accelerate impact.
It works: we've helped grow a storage company from a single store in 2018 to a 30+ location national network that has attracted $250m of institutional investment.
We are now expanding our in-house team and this role is a foundational hire within it.
The Role
As Web Developer, you own the websites our marketing runs on: building, maintaining and continuously improving WordPress sites across our client portfolio.
A solid, fast website optimised for search and conversion is at the core of everything that we do and so this role is critical for our business.
You'll report to the Agency Director and work daily with our SEO Specialist (supporting them by implementing technical recommendations) and our Paid Media Specialist (whose tracking and landing pages you build).
When it comes to AI, we're using AI to significantly accelerate our workflows while retaining full human oversight.
You will need to an AI power-user, used to looking for ways to use AI in a responsible way to speed up our ability to deliver an extremely high quality service.
The role doesn't stop at client sites.
You'll also help build the agency itself: our internal tools, automations and AI projects.
If you want your development work to stretch beyond WordPress into automation platforms and applied AI, there is genuine scope for that here.
One thing we're deliberate about is who we hire.
We're a small team, so how you work matters to us as much as what you deliver: we look for smart, conscientious, genuinely nice people who support the colleagues around them and take pride in doing things properly.
You must be an effective communicator and be willing to pick up the phone to or jump on a video call with clients.
If that describes you, you'll be at home here.
At the end of each day we want you to feel like you've given your brain a real work out, delivered results and had a great time doing it!
Key Responsibilities
• Build, maintain and improve WordPress sites across the client portfolio, working with Avada/Fusion Builder, Divi, Elementor, ACF and Gravity Forms
• Populating sites with content produced by the team
• Own performance: Core Web Vitals, speed optimisation, caching, asset loading and accessibility
• Manage hosting, DNS, staging environments, backups, security hardening and updates across the estate
• Implement technical SEO changes specified by our SEO Specialist across site architecture, structured data, redirects and indexability
• Own conversion tracking and consent: GTM containers, dataLayer events and enquiry funnel tracking
• Build enquiry flows around how each client actually sells
• Integrating websites into our marketing stack: automation platforms, APIs and webhooks
• Use AI-assisted development tools to move faster on builds and fixes, while keeping the code you ship clean and maintainable and never compromising on quality
• Diagnose and fix bugs properly reading error logs and writing patches, not just reinstalling plugins
• Build and manage our internal agency tools: automations, AI projects and the systems the agency itself runs on
• Scope development work for proposals, with realistic estimates the team can rely on
• Be available, within reason, to respond to any significant degradation in site performance or availability outside your working pattern; this is a very rare occurrence, because the estate is built and maintained to prevent it
What We're Looking For
• 5+ years of WordPress development experience, ideally in an agency or multi-site environment
• Solid web fundamentals, PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with a code-level understanding of WordPress: template hierarchy, custom post types, hooks and ACF
• Real page-builder experience (Avada/Fusion Builder, Divi or Elementor) and the judgement to know when to configure and when to code
• A performance mindset: you've made slow sites fast and can explain how
• Comfort with GTM and dataLayer work, and enough technical SEO literacy to collaborate precisely with an SEO specialist
• Experience integrating third-party platforms via APIs and webhooks and the typical authentication methods used by the same; familiarity with automation tools is a plus
• Conscientiousness: you care that things are done properly, even when nobody is checking
• A supportive way of working: generous with your knowledge, straightforward and good to be around
• Curiosity, especially about automation and AI, and the appetite to apply both
• The discipline part-time working takes: you organise your own week, document as you go, communicate proactively and deliver inside 22.5 focused hours
What We Offer
• £27,000 (£45,000 full-time equivalent), plus our performance incentive plan
• A genuinely part-time role: the 9.30–2.30 pattern is designed to fit around school hours, all internal meetings happen inside those hours and the 2.30pm finish is respected
• Holiday calculated in hours (the pro-rated equivalent of 5.6 weeks including bank holidays), so whichever days you work are treated fairly
• Our current benefits include:
· The option to purchase up to 5 days of extra holiday (pro-rata)
· Work from the EU for up to 10 working days every year (pro-rata)
· Matched charity donations up to £100
· A £50 annual coffee card and cinema vouchers (equivalent to two tickets, twice a year)
• An AI-first development environment, with the tools and licences to match
• Real scope for growth into automation and AI through our internal tooling and agency systems
• Exciting clients: ambitious, growth-focused businesses where your work visibly moves the numbers
