We're looking for a highly accomplished back end developer to join our growing dev team.
You'll work directly with clients and colleagues to solve complex technical problems, and you'll be a key part of ensuring our work meets client goals and follows Drupal standards in a robust, maintainable way.
What you'll be doing:
You'll join a strong in-house team led by our Director of Web Design & Development and three technical leads (WordPress, Drupal, Front-end), working closely with project managers, digital designers and content strategists.
Most of our work is building and maintaining organisations' main websites, plus smaller sites and products like our AI Search tool and Page-to-PDF via Puppeteer.
We expect staff to work autonomously and own their projects — you'll usually focus on one major piece of work at a time, seeing it through to completion, with occasional rotations onto the support desk.
What you'll need:
✅ Extensive, hands-on experience with Drupal, advanced PHP and MySQL
✅ Solid grasp of advanced OOP PHP — namespacing, dependency injection, etc.
✅ Comfort with Git, Bash, GNU Make, command-line tools, Apache/nginx, DDEV
✅ Confidence reviewing others' code and discussing thorny problems with colleagues
✅ Strong communication skills — you'll engage directly with clients and explain your solutions to them
✅ Fluent written and spoken English
Nice to have: WordPress, Symfony or Laravel experience; a background working with non-profit or socially-driven clients and having worked in an agency.
