The role covers all aspects of Software Engineering including design, implementation and testing. This exciting role will place the right candidate at the forefront of unmanned air systems development in the UK. Responsibilities Technical leadership of Frontend software projects.Write robust, efficient and testable Front End Code using JavaScript, HTML, CSS and other modern web technologies.Lead a team to deliver software releases iteratively to milestones and/or deadlines.Help estimate and refine software development tasks.Ensure code quality is maintained by contributing to code reviews.Perform other related duties as required. Health & Safety Demonstrate in daily activities a commitment to health and safety in the workplace by always ensuring tasks are performed in the safest possible manner.Report all hazards and incidents that the individual is party to, or observes, in the correct manner.When required or directed, participate in any health and safety training. Qualifications Educated to a degree level in a computing related subject. Essential Skills and Experience Proven experience in at least one modern JavaScript library, e.g. React.Expert in cross-browser and device compatibility.Ability to use the command line with tools including Node.js and NPM.Experience collaborating with a software team using version control tools such as GitHub.Ability to handle data via APIs e.g. Rest.Experience reviewing the code of other engineers using pull or merge requests.Good working knowledge of styling preprocessors e.g. SASS.Ability to write vanilla UI code including HTML, CSS and JavaScript without relying on frameworks such as Bootstrap.Significant experience working as a Front End Engineer on complex web-based projects.Collaborating in a team using issue tracking tools such as JIRA, Confluence and CI/CD.Creating new software features from user stories and meeting all acceptance criteria.Mentoring and coaching junior software engineers. Desirable Experience working on greenfield software projects.Can work to pre-defined coding standards.Has a solid understanding of accessibility and UX.Ability to work to a methodology eg Scrum, Agile.Previous line management experience of junior software engineers.Previous experience interfacing with embedded systems.Experience porting existing software to a new framework/library.Previous experience or interest in drones or aviation.
