An experienced software engineering opportunity focused on real-time applications that transform camera and sensor inputs into actionable data. You will own architecture and application development, turn prototypes into scalable and maintainable systems, and provide technical direction to external specialists.

The role offers substantial technical ownership, including architectural decisions, scalability, reliability, and leadership of external specialists.

Description

You own the architecture behind software that turns camera images into real time data about what happens in the physical world. For my client, a growing tech company that builds both the hardware and the software behind its own detection systems, I'm looking for an experienced software engineer to take the lead on application development. WHAT YOU'LL DO Design and build the data processing applications behind the product: the software that runs image detection, drives the hardware and processes sensor data in real time. No user interfaces, no web apps.Turn a working prototype into something scalable, reliable and maintainable.Own the architecture decisions: what direction we take, what we build ourselves and what we don't.Set the lines for the external specialists they work with, and steer their work. You'll be the most senior engineer in the application development discipline. WHAT YOU BRING At least 5 years as a software engineer, coming from a software engineering background rather than from research or data science.Proven experience setting up architecture that stays scalable and maintainable as the system grows.Strong Python skills. It's the language you'll build in most, but the engineering thinking matters more than the language itself.Solid practices: CI/CD, testing at multiple levels, code that holds up over time.Comfortable around Linux, networking and the environment the software actually runs in.A hands-on mentality. This is a small company, so you'll be in the field as often as behind your screen. If you want to develop and nothing else, this isn't your role. You don't need to tick every box. If you come close, I'd love to hear from you. PRACTICAL 32 to 40 hours per week.Four days at the office, one day from home.No IND sponsorship and no relocation support. You need to be based in the Netherlands already and have full working rights. The team works in English, so Dutch is not required. WHY HERE Salary up to €6,000 gross per month excluding holiday allowence.Annual bonus of up to one month's salary.Pension contribution.25 vacation days. One fixed day per week from home.Full technical ownership of your own domain.A small engineering team with short lines and nobody in between.Technology that's already running in multiple European markets.
