Description

ABOUT USAt AlpineAI, we harness the extraordinary capabilities of Large Language Models through our offering. The platform integrates with enterprise data and runs on infrastructure we operate ourselves in Switzerland, including hardware we own and run. That combination is what makes it usable for organizations that cannot send their data anywhere else. THE ROLEWe're seeking a passionate Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer to join our team. If you are deeply immersed in CI/CD, excel in automation scripting, and have an innate understanding of infrastructure-as-code, then you might be the one we're looking for. You report directly to the CTO. The team is small, so the scope is wide and the decisions are genuinely yours to make. On-call duty is part of the role. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES• Collaborate with developers to build reliable and scalable development pipelines, ensuring continuous automated releases. • Coach both frontend and backend engineers, empowering them to actively monitor their code in a live environment. • Steer discussions concerning scalable architecture, ensuring each decision is informed by a thorough understanding of the trade-offs, as well as the financial and security implications of our operational strategies. • Collaborate with our development team to streamline software releases, safeguarding the integrity and efficiency of deployments. • Manage, monitor, and strategically scale our infrastructure, from the clusters our services run on to the hardware behind our models, so that performance stays consistent. • Maintain meticulous documentation on deployments, processes, and all essential tools. • Ensure system reliability, availability, and top-notch performance, even during unexpected challenges. • Share on-call duty with the team. WHAT YOU BRINGThe tools below are examples, not a checklist. We care more about how you have operated things than about which logo was on them. • Solid production experience with containers and Kubernetes, and with GitOps-style delivery. • Comfort managing secrets and access as code, with tooling of the kind you would expect (SOPS, Vault or similar), and an instinct for least privilege. • Experience operating stateful workloads, not just stateless ones. Relational databases, caches and message queues that carry real customer data. • A practical view of observability. Which stack you have used matters less to us than whether you can help an engineer debug their own service. • Robust scripting skills, plus enough fluency in a language such as Python, TypeScript or a JVM language to read and improve the services you operate. • An analytical and problem-solving mindset, with a keen ability to troubleshoot intricate issues. • Effective communication skills, combined with a collaborative and team-first mentality. • Around four years of hands-on experience running systems you were on call for. • Fluent in German and English language. NICE TO HAVENot requirements. Tell us if you have them. • Work on GPU workloads or on the performance of model serving. • Experience in regulated environments: data residency requirements, audits, ISO 27001. WHAT WE ARE OFFERINGWe offer more than just a job: after an initiation period, you are eligible for the company's shares program and become part of the AlpineAI family. Furthermore, you will: • Engage in a dynamic, innovative company that values and fosters out-of-the-box thinking. • Thrive in a professional, goal-oriented culture where: o Managers exemplify leadership. o Fairness and respect are paramount. o Autonomy is encouraged, accepting mistakes as learning opportunities. o Conflicts are addressed openly and promptly. • Take on a high level of personal responsibility. • Participate in an exciting mission within a creative and forward-thinking environment. • Collaborate with some of the brightest and most innovative minds in AI. • Work on infrastructure that is genuinely yours to shape, including hardware you can walk up to. • Embrace the opportunity to make a large-scale impact and drive global change. DONT'SPlease do not apply as we will not consider your application if: • You are not willing to work physically in Zurich or Davos, Switzerland. • You are not Swiss or arenot an EU or EFTA holding a Swiss work permit. • You have never worked in a startup environment.
