Description

Want to learn software engineering and AI from people who are seriously good at it - while actually building things that matter? We’re looking for curious, technically minded university students to join Larrison as Software Engineer & AI Interns. Larrison is a Canberra-based technology company bringing together exceptional people, modern engineering practices and AI to solve difficult problems. We build products, platforms and solutions across cloud, software engineering, DevOps and AI, working with Australian Government and enterprise clients. Our team includes highly experienced engineers, architects, cloud specialists and technology leaders. We care deeply about our craft, we work hard, we share what we know, and we genuinely enjoy working together. Stacked talent, good vibes, one team - delivery unlocked. What you'll actually doThis isn't an internship where you'll spend six months watching other people work. You'll join our team and contribute to real software and AI development activities, with plenty of support from experienced Larrison specialists. Depending on your skills and interests, you may: build and prototype software and AI-enabled featureswork with modern AI tools as part of the software development lifecyclewrite, test, debug and improve codeexplore new approaches to AI-assisted software engineeringcontribute to Larrison's products and internal technology initiativessupport cloud, DevOps, automation and deployment activitiesdevelop test cases, technical documentation and user guidanceresearch and evaluate emerging technologies and turn ideas into working prototypesparticipate in planning sessions, technical discussions, demonstrations and code reviews andwhere appropriate, contribute to supervised development work for our government and enterprise clients. We use AI as a tool to make talented people even better, not as a substitute for understanding what you're building. You'll learn how experienced practitioners combine AI-assisted development with engineering judgement, security, quality and human review. What we're looking forYou don't need to know everything. That's rather the point of an internship. We're more interested in people who are genuinely interested in technology and want to get better at it. You might be studying software engineering, computer science, engineering, AI or a related discipline. Some experience with programming is important, and we'd love to see evidence that you've experimented, built things or explored technology outside the minimum requirements of your degree. You'll probably enjoy working with us if you: like figuring out how things workenjoy solving problems and building thingsare genuinely interested in AI and modern software engineeringaren't afraid to ask questionscan take feedback and run with itcare about producing good workenjoy working with smart people rather than competing with them andare excited by the idea of learning quickly and being given progressively more responsibility. Experience with cloud platforms, DevOps, APIs, Git, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, .NET, infrastructure-as-code, cybersecurity or AI development is useful but we don't expect an intern to arrive as an expert. What you'll getThe biggest thing we can offer is access to seriously experienced people who actually want to teach you. You'll work directly with Larrison's engineers and specialists rather than being separated into an intern program. You'll see how experienced practitioners approach architecture, software delivery, cloud, security, DevOps and AI - and you'll have opportunities to apply what you're learning to real problems. You'll also get: meaningful, hands-on engineering experienceexposure to commercial software development and real client environmentspractical experience using AI as part of modern software engineeringmentoring and technical guidance from experienced practitionersroom to explore ideas, experiment and learnan environment where good ideas matter more than job titles anda team that takes its work seriously without taking itself too seriously. We move quickly. We expect people to contribute. We care about quality. And we're passionate about technology, which makes Larrison a pretty great place to learn if you are too. The practical bitsThis opportunity is designed for university students seeking an internship or work-integrated learning placement. The placement can be structured around university requirements and study commitments, with the specific duration and working pattern agreed with the successful candidate and their university. Larrison is based in Canberra and works extensively with Australian Government clients. Opportunities are therefore subject to client access, citizenship or security requirements (including the ability to obtain and hold a security clearance). Interested?Don't send us a five-paragraph cover letter just telling us you're passionate about innovation. Tell us what you're interested in, what you've built, what you've experimented with, or what technology rabbit hole you've disappeared down recently. GitHub repos, side projects, uni projects, home labs, robots, terrible first attempts that taught you something... we want to see them. If you're curious, capable and want to learn from some exceptionally talented people while doing real work, we'd love to hear from you. Unicorn Talent. AI Accelerated.
