See yourself in our team As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll join one of our core engineering squads responsible for merchant onboarding or payment processing capabilities. You'll help design and build products that power the end-to-end eCommerce journey for some of Australia's largest businesses while influencing technical direction across a growing engineering organisation. Business Banking Technology executes the technology strategy across Business Banking through the application of modern technology, resilient platforms and engineering excellence to deliver valuable customer outcomes at speed and scale. You'll join the Payments & Acceptance domain, a growing engineering organisation of more than 60 engineers responsible for critical eCommerce capabilities including: Merchant onboarding and activationPayment transaction processingSettlement and reconciliation serviceseCommerce platform servicesCustomer-facing merchant experiences With multiple strategic capabilities being launched throughout the year, you'll play a key role in shaping the architecture, engineering practices and customer outcomes of a platform that is still being built. What you'll do Lead the design and delivery of scalable, resilient and secure software solutions across our eCommerce payments platformBuild and evolve Java-based microservices supporting merchant onboarding, payment processing and settlement capabilitiesContribute across the technology stack, from backend services and APIs through to cloud infrastructure and customer experiencesDrive architectural decisions and influence engineering direction across squadsChampion engineering excellence through automated testing, CI/CD, observability and DevSecOps practicesPartner with product, architecture and business stakeholders to deliver meaningful customer outcomesMentor engineers and uplift technical capability across the teamSupport production systems and continuously improve reliability, performance and operational excellence We're Interested In Hearing From People Who Bring deep software engineering expertise and a passion for building scalable, customer-focused platforms.
