About The Role We are seeking a talented Mid-Level PHP/Laravel Developer to join our in-house Bury development team. This role offers the opportunity to work on building and maintaining critical business systems that support our group's operations. The successful candidate will take ownership of developing, enhancing, and optimizing backend services and front-end applications, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions. You will be involved in developing single-page applications (SPAs) with Vue 3, TypeScript, and GraphQL, ensuring seamless real-time functionalities and integrations. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and scalability of our systems, supporting our long-term business objectives and client satisfaction. Qualifications Proven commercial experience with PHP 8+ and Laravel framework, ideally with Laravel 13 or newer.Strong proficiency in Vue 3, including Composition API, and experience developing SPAs.Extensive experience working with MySQL 8.4 or similar relational databases, including performance optimization.Solid understanding of TypeScript and its application within complex front-end projects.Experience writing and executing feature tests using PHPUnit within a TDD approach.Hands-on experience with Docker for containerization and managing development environments.Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, particularly with GitHub Actions, for automated testing and deployment.Knowledge of real-time web technologies, including Soketi/WebSockets, for developing live features.Experience in integrating third-party APIs and services, such as Microsoft Graph.Proficiency with agentic AI tools and Claude Code to enhance development workflows.Previous experience working within collaborative teams, participating in code reviews and technical discussions.Desirable: Experience in the energy sector, specifically electricity and gas metering, and some proficiency in C# / .NET. Responsibilities Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using PHP 8.5 and Laravel 13, ensuring high performance and scalability.Create dynamic and responsive SPAs utilizing Vue 3's Composition API, enhancing user experience.Implement and manage GraphQL APIs for flexible data querying and integration.Write comprehensive feature tests using PHPUnit, adopting TDD practices to ensure code quality and reliability.Optimize database performance through effective MySQL query design and indexing strategies.Configure and manage Docker containers to streamline development and deployment processes.Design and implement CI/CD workflows with GitHub Actions to automate testing, building, and deployment pipelines.Develop real-time functionalities using Soketi/WebSockets, supporting live data updates and interactions.Integrate external services such as Microsoft Graph to enhance application capabilities.Leverage Claude Code and agentic AI tools to improve productivity and code quality within the development lifecycle.Support and troubleshoot live production systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.Participate in regular code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing sessions to foster team growth and maintain coding standards.
