The Role This is an exciting opportunity for experienced Senior Software Engineers to join ABC Digital Product and help build and evolve large-scale digital experiences used by Australians every day. We have 3x senior front end engineering opportunities, working across audience-facing digital products, web platforms and content distribution services. You’ll work with modern technologies including React, TypeScript, Next.js and Node.js, developing highly performant, accessible and secure public-facing applications while contributing to technical roadmaps, architecture and engineering standards. Key Accountabilities Lead the design and development of scalable, secure and high-performing web applications built for complex digital environments.Build modern public-facing products using React, TypeScript, Next.js or similar frameworksDesign and develop reusable components and functionality across ABC digital productsContribute to longer-term technical roadmaps, architecture, solution design and engineering strategyBuild quality into development through comprehensive unit, integration and end-to-end automated testingWork across CI/CD, deployment automation, production monitoring and release processesDrive improvements across web performance, security, SEO, accessibility and software qualityIdentify, triage and resolve complex production issues, minimising time to resolutionWork alongside DevOps specialists on infrastructure design and implementationProvide technical leadership, guidance and mentoring across development teams About You You’ll bring: Significant experience building complex, scalable and responsive public-facing web applicationsHighly advanced React and TypeScript capabilityStrong experience with Next.js or comparable modern web frameworksSignificant experience with a server-side language, preferably Node.jsDeep knowledge of modern development frameworks, tooling and software engineering practicesExtensive experience with automated testing across unit, integration and end-to-end testingStrong experience with CI/CD, automation pipelines, web releases and production monitoringStrong understanding of WCAG accessibility, performance, security and SEOExperience desired but not essential: Designing, building, or supporting audience facing video and media delivery systems, with an understanding of challenges such as adaptive bitrate streaming, DRM, CDN strategy, live event reliability, player architecture, device fragmentation, accessibility, and platform-specific constraints.Demonstrated technical leadership and the ability to mentor and guide other engineersStrong stakeholder communication and experience coordinating complex multi-person deliveryRelevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent significant professional experience What’s in it for you?
