About the Role
Looking for an opportunity to make a real impact while working with modern cloud technologies, automation and DevOps practices? At MAS, we're on a journey of continuous improvement across our technology environment, and we're looking for a skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join us on a 12-month fixed term contract.
In this role, you'll help ensure our platforms, infrastructure and cloud services remain secure, reliable and fit for the future while supporting the delivery of technology initiatives across the business.
The role can be based in either Auckland or Wellington and sits within our Information Technology team, reporting to the Systems Engineer Team Leader.
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you'll work across infrastructure, cloud services, automation and operational support, helping to improve the reliability, performance and resilience of MAS technology services.
You'll collaborate closely with engineering, delivery, security and operations teams to support modern DevOps practices and contribute to the continued evolution of our technology environment.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting and improving cloud, infrastructure and deployment environmentsManaging system upgrades, patching, configuration and operational changesMonitoring performance and proactively responding to reliability issuesContributing to CI/CD, release management and automation initiativesSupporting business continuity, disaster recovery and operational resilience activitiesProviding technical guidance and collaborating with internal teams and external vendorsDriving continuous improvement through automation, infrastructure as code and modern operational practices.
About you
You'll bring strong infrastructure and cloud engineering experience, along with a passion for improving systems, solving problems and finding smarter ways of working.
We're particularly interested in people who have:
Experience supporting and administering enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms or hybrid environmentsStrong knowledge of Microsoft Azure and related cloud technologiesExperience with automation and scripting technologies such as PowerShellStrong skills in CI/CD Pipelines, infrastructure as code and DevOps practices.Strong troubleshooting skills and experience supporting production systemsAn understanding of security, monitoring, resilience and operational best practiceExcellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving.
