CayPlay Studios is looking for a senior Unity engineer to join our team full-time and take
ownership of performance optimization and console porting across our games.
This role will work alongside our existing team on one of our current console titles,
helping us continue to improve the port and bring it up to the standard we expect.
You’ll
also help us establish the internal workflows and technical foundation needed to
approach console development earlier and more directly on future titles, reducing our
reliance on external partners.
This is a highly hands-on technical role.
You’ll be expected to dig into unfamiliar
problems, identify the real cause of performance issues, implement practical solutions,
and help establish the systems and best practices we use for console development
going forward.
This is a 100% remote, full-time position.
Responsibilities
● Profile and optimize Unity projects across CPU, GPU, rendering, memory,
loading, and physics.
● Investigate performance bottlenecks, identify root causes, and propose practical
solutions.
● Work with URP, SRP Batcher, GPU Instancing, batching, shaders, lighting,
post-processing, LODs, and other rendering optimization techniques.
● Analyze and reduce memory usage, including textures, meshes, allocations,
asset lifetime, and loading/unloading behavior.
● Investigate frame spikes, stutters, GC pressure, expensive physics, and other
runtime performance issues.
● Help prepare and optimize the project for console releases.
● Contribute to optimization guidelines, performance budgets, and best practices
for future projects.
Requirements
● Senior-level professional experience with Unity.
● Strong hands-on experience profiling and optimizing Unity games.
● Strong C# knowledge
● At least one shipped Unity game, with direct involvement in performance
optimization.
● Strong understanding of CPU, GPU, rendering, and memory performance in
Unity.
● Experience with Unity Profiler, Frame Debugger, Memory Profiler, and similar
profiling/debugging tools.
● Ability to independently investigate unfamiliar performance issues and find their
root cause.
● Strong practical problem-solving skills and willingness to dig deep into technical
issues.
● (Bonus) Experience personally handling or leading a Unity console port
● (Bonus) Experience profiling and optimizing directly on target console hardware
● (Bonus) Experience implementing gameplay systems and features in Unity
