🚀 Junior Software Engineer | Python & SQL
Location: Chiswick, London
Salary: £40,000–£45,000 + discretionary performance bonus
We’re working with an established commodities trading business that is growing its engineering team and looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join a small, high-ownership environment.
This is an opportunity to work on real technology from day one, with your work directly supporting Trading, Finance and Operations.
💻 The Role
You’ll be working alongside experienced engineers to:
Build and improve applications using Python and SQLDevelop real features and automationWork on genuine business and technical problemsInvestigate bugs and learn structured debugging approachesWrite clean, maintainable and well-tested production codeWork directly with the people using the softwareContribute ideas and gradually take ownership of more complex work
🛠️ What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone with 0–1 years of industry experience, or strong Python/SQL experience gained through personal projects, placements or bootcamps.
You should have:
Experience with Python & SQLUnderstanding of relational databases, querying, schemas and transactionsFamiliarity with GitBasic knowledge of REST APIs, HTTP and JSONA structured approach to debugging and problem solvingA genuine curiosity for technology and willingness to learn
You don't need to know everything.
Experience with areas such as AWS, React, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, CI/CD, Airflow or data visualisation is beneficial, but there will be plenty of opportunity to learn these on the job.
