We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Software Engineer to join our automation and applied AI engineering team.
As a member of a small, high-ownership team, you will participate throughout the software-development lifecycle—from learning and analyzing unfamiliar business processes through solution design, development, deployment, monitoring and production support.
Success in this role requires genuine curiosity about how different business functions operate and enthusiasm for developing the domain knowledge needed to automate them effectively.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with business, operations and technology stakeholders across the firm to design, build and support production-grade automation solutions that reduce manual effort and improve operational controls.
The team supports a broad portfolio of solutions across trading, Compliance, Legal, Tax, Treasury, Finance, Human Resources and other corporate functions.
As a member of a small, high-ownership team, you will participate throughout the software-development lifecycle—from requirements analysis and solution design through development, deployment, monitoring and production support.
You will also contribute to the responsible adoption of automation and applied AI across the organization.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test and maintain full-stack automations and services across backend components, relational databases, REST APIs and web-based user interfaces.Develop solutions using Python and modern web frameworks such as Django, along with relational databases such as SQL Server.Develop and support web-based interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks such as React.Build and support integrations with internal systems and third-party platforms, using APIs where available and controlled browser automation where modern integration options do not exist.Apply generative AI and large language models to appropriate business workflows, including document and email processing, information extraction, classification and AI-assisted report and summaries drafting.Implement appropriate controls for AI-enabled solutions, including structured-output validation, exception handling, auditability and human review where required.Proactively learn the workflows, terminology, controls and operational challenges of different business functions, asking thoughtful questions and developing sufficient domain knowledge to design effective automation solutions using appropriate technologies.Own assigned solutions throughout their lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, documentation and ongoing production support.Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis and implement improvements to system reliability, performance, recoverability and supportability.Develop automated tests and participate in code reviews to maintain solution quality and reduce production risk.Implement effective logging, monitoring and alerting so that scheduled and unattended automations can be supported efficiently.Liaise with stakeholders across compliance, legal, trading operations, tax, treasury, finance, and HR to validate business logic, manage expectations, and communicate technical trade-offs and timelines in clear, non-technical terms.Develop and support Compliance and regulatory reports by working with Compliance stakeholders to translate approved business rules into reliable technical solutions, with appropriate data validation, traceability, documentation and auditability.Document and communicate technical designs and decisions, ensuring clear and effective knowledge sharing across technical and business audiences.Remain current with relevant software-development, automation and applied AI technologies and evaluate their potential use within the organization.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).2-5 years of professional software-development experience, with a sound understanding of software-development lifecycle activities.Strong proficiency in Python and a modern web framework (e.g., Django) is essential.Experience designing, developing and consuming REST APIs.Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server, including database design, querying and troubleshooting.Optional Working proficiency in a modern JavaScript framework (e.g., React), including component-based UI development and API integration.Optional Experience with browser-automation or RPA tooling for integrating with systems that lack modern APIs, and comfort with Unix shell scripting.Practical experience integrating generative AI / large language model APIs into production applications, including prompt design and output validation, is highly desirable.Experience with Git-based source control and CI/CD practices is required; familiarity with DevOps methodologies is highly desirable.Optional A background in Financial Services and an understanding of trade lifecycles or post-trade processes, familiarity with compliance areas such as AML, sanctions, employee compliance, trade surveillance, supervisory controls or audit-related reporting would be beneficial.A self-directed and intellectually curious approach, with enthusiasm for learning unfamiliar business domains, understanding complex operational processes and applying technology to solve practical business problems.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work directly with non-technical business stakeholders on requirements, trade-offs, and expectations.
