About the Role We are looking for a Senior AEM Backend Developer to join our Sydney-based delivery team. The role will focus on developing and implementing scalable enterprise solutions using Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience in AEM backend development, Java, OSGi, Sling, JCR/Oak and AEM as a Cloud Service, along with the ability to work directly with clients, architects and distributed delivery teams. Knowledge of Adobe Edge Delivery Services (EDS) is a nice-to-have. Key Responsibilities Design and develop robust backend solutions using Adobe Experience Manager. Develop custom AEM components, services, workflows and integrations. Develop and maintain AEM applications using Java, OSGi, Sling Models and JCR/Oak. Build REST APIs and integrations between AEM and third-party enterprise systems. Work with AEM as a Cloud Service and Cloud Manager. Develop solutions using AEM Core Components and custom extensions. Configure and develop AEM workflows, schedulers, servlets and event handlers. Troubleshoot application, integration and production issues. Participate in technical design, estimation and code reviews. Follow development, security and performance best practices. Collaborate with Solution Architects, Business Analysts, QA and frontend developers. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior developers. Work closely with offshore delivery teams to ensure successful project execution. Participate in client discussions and provide technical recommendations when required. Requirements Required Technical Skills Adobe Experience Manager Strong hands-on experience with AEM 6.5 and/or AEM as a Cloud Service. AEM Sites development. AEM Components and Templates. Sling Models. OSGi Services and configurations. Servlets and Sling Resources. AEM Workflows. JCR / Oak. AEM Dispatcher. AEM Cloud Manager. Java / Backend Development Strong experience in Java/J2EE. Java 8+ development. RESTful APIs and web services. Maven. JSON/XML. Enterprise system integrations. Object-oriented design and design patterns. DevOps Git / GitHub. CI/CD pipelines. AEM Cloud Manager. Maven-based builds. Agile development practices. AEM Cloud deployment and release processes. Nice to Have — Edge Delivery Services (EDS) Knowledge or exposure to Adobe Edge Delivery Services (EDS) will be an advantage. Experience & Qualifications 6+ years of software development experience. 4+ years of hands-on AEM development experience. Strong enterprise AEM implementation experience. AEM Cloud Service experience is highly desirable. Experience working with distributed/onshore-offshore delivery teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies. Strong communication and client-facing skills. AEM certification is desirable. Benefits Preferred Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will be a hands-on Senior AEM Backend Developer with strong Java and AEM expertise, experience in enterprise implementations and exposure to AEM Cloud Service. Experience with Edge Delivery Services is an added advantage, but candidates with strong AEM backend and AEM Cloud experience should also be considered.
