Mid-Level DevOps & Platform Engineer Location: UK Remote (Travel roughly 1 day every 1–2 months to London or Manchester) Salary: £55,000 – £60,000 + Benefits About the Opportunity Our client is an established, high-growth UK SaaS business providing critical safeguarding and medical management software across thousands of schools and education trusts nationwide. Operating a modern AWS stack, they are expanding their platform capabilities and deploying a brand-new cloud region in the UAE alongside their core UK setup. They are looking for a hands-on Mid-Level DevOps / Platform Engineer with 2–3 years of experience who is eager to learn, adapt, and grow within a close-knit engineering team. Initially reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will transition under the direct line management and mentorship of the DevOps Lead. This is a versatile, high-visibility role where you will support both cloud infrastructure and internal IT/SysOps. The architecture, pipelines, and frameworks are already established by the DevOps Lead—your role is to help implement, maintain, pair-review, and contribute to continuous platform improvements. Key Responsibilities Cloud Platform & Execution: Implement AWS infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines alongside the DevOps Lead, taking designs through to production through pair reviews and code releases.UAE Region Expansion: Assist with the AWS deployment and DevOps work required to stand up the new UAE cloud region.Internal Systems & IT Management: Manage internal IT operations, staff onboarding, and device endpoints using Jamf (macOS MDM), Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace.Internal Escalation Support: Serve as the internal technical contact for platform and infrastructure fixes to support internal teams and onboarding (no out-of-hours or direct customer support required).Process & Tooling Improvement: Help automate manual tasks, streamline GitHub Actions workflows, and refine monitoring and operational guardrails. Essential Skills & Experience (Non-Negotiables) 2–3 Years DevOps / Infrastructure Experience: Proven hands-on background in a DevOps or Platform role working with CI/CD tools and code pipelines.AWS Certification: Must hold an AWS Associate-level certification (e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Solutions Architect Associate, or DevOps Engineer Associate).Core AWS & Cloud Skills: Solid foundation in core AWS services, networking, IAM fundamentals, and command-line/scripting.Small-Team Adaptability: Experience working in smaller engineering teams or scale-up environments—comfortable "spinning plates," taking initiative, and learning on the job.Open Mindset to IT & Platform: A collaborative, open approach to handling both cloud platform work and internal IT/Jamf endpoint management without being rigid about "how things must be done".Flexible Travel: Comfortable travelling roughly 1 day per month (or every 2 months) to meet the team in either London or Manchester. Desirable Skills (Nice-to-Have) Hands-on experience or familiarity with Jamf for macOS MDM management.Exposure to Terraform, AWS CDK, or TypeScript/Node.js tooling.Exposure to multi-region setups (e.g., UAE rollout) or observability tools like New Relic.
