DevOps Engineer

We are an AWS partner, Cloudflare’s 2025 EMEA Growth Partner of the Year, and an Anthropic partner and reseller. The role You will build and run infrastructure for our clients, hands-on. You write the Terraform, apply it, and own the result, sometimes on high-load production systems. The work varies: an EKS platform build for one client, a Terraform and GitOps cleanup for another, a CI/CD migration or a cost reduction for a third. Most of it runs on AWS, which is where we want your deepest experience. You may also work in Azure, GCP, or on-prem environments, so you should be comfortable operating outside AWS when needed.Cloudflare is an important part of the GlobalDots portfolio, and our DevOps work includes it when the design calls for it: DNS and WAF in front of a new platform, Zero Trust or Tunnels for access, Workers or R2 where they fit. You should be comfortable picking those up alongside the infrastructure work.We expect you to work with AI coding agents as a normal part of the day: reading an unfamiliar codebase, writing Terraform, debugging a failing pipeline, drafting a runbook. Because of the Anthropic partnership, Claude Code is our default and the tool we know best, and we provide the licenses; experience with Codex, Cursor, or similar counts too. AI tooling is used within each customer’s security and data-handling requirements. You stay responsible for what ships. AI output gets reviewed and tested like anything else.The line between infrastructure and application code is thin for us. You should be comfortable going into a client’s service to add proper logging, metrics, and tracing, sitting with their developers to debug a production issue, or building an SRE agent that helps a team through incidents.A lot of the job is talking to people. You will work directly with different customers, each with its own team, habits, and constraints. GlobalDots also works with many vendors and has several departments, and they periodically bring a DevOps engineer into pre-sales calls or a deeper technical discussion with a prospect. Expect to join those as the infrastructure voice in a cross-functional team. What you will do Design and build AWS environments with Terraform (Terragrunt is common in our repos): accounts, networking, IAM, EKS, data stores.Run Kubernetes in production: upgrades, networking, ingress, secrets, workload hardening.Get scaling right at every layer: HPA and VPA, KEDA for event-driven workloads, Karpenter or Cluster Autoscaler for nodes, and queue-based or serverless designs where a cluster is the wrong answer.Run GPU workloads properly: node pools and drivers, scheduling and sharing, and the cost side of keeping expensive hardware busy.Set up GitOps and CI/CD, usually ArgoCD or Flux with GitHub Actions or GitLab CI, and move clients off older pipelines.Put observability in place and use it to resolve real incidents. The stack depends on the client: Prometheus and Grafana with Loki or Tempo, OpenTelemetry, ELK or OpenSearch, Datadog, and plenty of others. You will not know all of them, and that is fine, as long as you can learn a new one quickly.Treat FinOps as an ongoing part of every engagement: right-size, pick the right pricing model, and leave the client with the visibility to keep spend under control.Talk to clients directly on Slack and calls, write short documentation, and leave clear runbooks and maintainable systems the client can operate with confidence.Join pre-sales and scoping calls with our sales, security, and vendor teams when they need someone to go deep on infrastructure. Requirements Several years running production systems on AWS. You know VPC networking, IAM, and high availability patterns well enough to design them from scratch.Strong Terraform.Production Kubernetes experience, ideally on EKS, including autoscaling and at least some exposure to GPU workloads.Working knowledge of GitOps (ArgoCD or Flux) and at least one CI system.Observability: metrics, logs, traces, alerting, and the habit of reading them under pressure.Solid Linux and Bash, plus Python or Go for anything longer than a script.Daily use of an AI coding agent, ideally Claude Code. You can walk us through concrete examples of what you have built or fixed with one.English good enough to run a client call and write documentation the client keeps.Proactive by default. You notice what is broken or slow and fix it or raise it without waiting to be asked.Self-sufficient. You are comfortable owning a DevOps workstream on your own, from scoping through delivery and support. On other engagements, you join the client’s existing DevOps team and follow their process and conventions. You need to be at ease in both modes.You enjoy working with different customers and explaining technical decisions to people who are not engineers. Nice to have Hands-on Cloudflare: WAF rules, Zero Trust and Access, Tunnels, Workers, the Terraform provider.Azure or GCP in production.Agents, MCP servers, or other automation you have built on top of LLMs, Claude models in particular, especially anything used for incident response or on-call.AWS or CKA/CKS certifications. Useful, not required.On-prem experience (Ansible, bare-metal Kubernetes). How we work No formal on-call rotation. Occasional urgent production work happens, and we compensate or offset it.Flexible hours. You arrange your working day yourself around customer meetings.Certifications (AWS, GCP, HashiCorp, Kubernetes) at company expense.Equipment of your choice.Company-funded conferences and training. Fit If you know the AI tools well but have not run AWS and Kubernetes in production, this is not the right role. The reverse also applies: deep infra experience without any habit of working with AI agents will be a hard adjustment here. The same goes for engineers who prefer to receive tickets and work alone; here the customer contact is part of the job.
