Testing may be required. Lesser qualified applicants may be appointed at a lower level. We are seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Services Lead to join our team in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Are you an experienced cloud infrastructure professional who enjoys leading people, solving complex technical challenges and helping shape the future of modern cloud services? As our Cloud Infrastructure Services Lead, you will play a key role in advancing our cloud environment, strengthening service reliability and supporting the Corporation’s continued move from traditional infrastructure to secure, scalable and innovative cloud solutions. In this hands-on leadership role, you will guide and support a skilled team while staying closely connected to technical delivery. You will work with the Hybrid Infrastructure team and partners across the organization to design, deploy, monitor and continuously improve cloud services that are reliable, highly available and aligned with business needs. Your work will span reliable and scalable cloud infrastructure, cloud observability and monitoring, capacity planning, FinOps cost optimization and formal team management. You will contribute to current projects, ongoing sustainment and future improvements while introducing modern practices that enhance performance, security, efficiency and service excellence. Hybrid Work Model This position is located in our Victoria, BC office. You will have the flexibility to work part of the time on-campus and part of the time off-campus. The requirement for on-campus presence is a minimum of 40% of your schedule in a month. Additional requirements are determined by the role functions and operational needs of each business area. About the Team The Information Technology Service Operations branch (ITSO) provides IT services to BC Pension Corporation, specifically design, delivery, operations and support of Modern Workplace Solutions (business solutions based on SaaS and COTS Applications), IT Infrastructure (server-side and endpoint compute, storage and networking, both on premise and cloud), and IT Operations (ITIL aligned services, such as Service Desk, End User Support, Incident and Change Management, etc.). Responsibilities Lead, supervise and support the Cloud Infrastructure Services team, including assigning work, setting goals, coaching staff, managing performance, and guiding project delivery in alignment with organizational priorities and standards.Provide senior technical expertise in cloud infrastructure, platforms and hybrid connectivity, translating cloud strategy and architecture into secure, resilient and scalable implementations across single-cloud, multi-cloud and hybrid environments.Lead operational excellence through cloud governance, FinOps practices, observability and monitoring, capacity planning, vendor oversight, documentation, and proactive service reliability improvements.Design, automate and maintain cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, cloud resource configuration tools, automated workflows and modern practices that improve consistency, auditability and efficiency.Collaborate with IT Engineering, DevOps, Security, vendors and business stakeholders to research solutions, assess risks and costs, enforce cloud security requirements, and deliver fit-for-purpose services aligned with the Corporation’s strategy. Qualifications Must have Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field.Experience leading and supervising a team of IT professionals.A minimum of five years of experience in managing Azure/OCI cloud infrastructure including, but not limited to virtual servers, virtual desktops, storage, networking and connectivity services (e.g., subnetting, route tables, security groups, virtual networking, VPN, transit gateways, optimizing for egress costs), identity and access management, IAC, endpoint manager, and other cloud services and resources.A minimum of three years of hands-on experience with cloud observability, monitoring and performance analysis tools, such as Dynatrace and Azure Monitor.A minimum of three years of experience using FinOps principles and implementing and managing cloud cost optimization strategies.An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience may be considered. Nice to have Experience with cloud storage, backup, and recovery solutions.Cloud provider certifications.Experience working with a variety of vendors and third parties. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated management and leadership skills, with proven ability to motivate, mentor and coach others, resolve conflict and work in a changing environment.Knowledge of cloud computing, networking, storage and backup technologies, Microsoft Azure platform and/or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure).Knowledge of FinOps (e.g. analyzing cloud spending and optimizing resources, driving cloud optimal usage, etc.)Knowledge of cloud monitoring, alerting tools and observability concepts.Knowledge of Identity and Access management (e.g. Entra ID, RBAC, SSO, Group policy, enterprise applications, applications roles and assignments, etc.).Knowledge of cloud security (e.g., key management services, encryption, other core security services/controls the organization uses).Ability to lead technical projects and drive initiatives independently.Strong skills in system design, planning, implementation, and documentation.Knowledge of ITIL processes and tools.Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style for technical and non-technical audiences.Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, foster collaboration and achieve shared business objectives.
