### Role
As a Senior Backend Engineer (Python), you will build and maintain backend services and APIs powering Scalera’s AI-driven procurement platform.
You’ll work closely with the CTO and VP Engineering on AI production workflows, complex datasets, integrations, and platform reliability.
### Responsibilities
* Own backend problems end-to-end, from understanding user needs to delivering solutions.
* Build and maintain Python backend services supporting AI capabilities such as document parsing, supplier matching, and bid scoring.
* Design and implement RESTful APIs and integrations with frontend applications and external platforms.
* Develop data pipelines to ingest, normalize, and process structured and unstructured construction data.
* Participate in code reviews, testing, and CI/CD practices.
* Explore and contribute ideas for applying new AI techniques to procurement challenges.
* Work effectively in ambiguous environments by scoping, prioritizing, and delivering solutions.
### Required Qualifications
* 4+ years of backend engineering experience.
* Python as a primary programming language.
* Strong API design and RESTful systems experience.
* Production experience with FastAPI or Django.
