Our Managed Services team ensures businesses operate at peak efficiency, resilience, and scale. Join us to manage and optimise IT landscapes for leading organisations, delivering seamless, reliable, and measurable outcomes every day. This is a hands-on Senior Developer (Cloud) role within a managed services team, focused on supporting and optimising a serverless, microservices-based BFF (Backend-for-Frontend) platform. You will act as a key technical owner for critical Lambda, ECS, AppSync, API Gateway, and event-driven workloads, providing L2/L3 production support, troubleshooting complex issues, and driving stability, performance, and cost improvements across the AWS estate. What you’ll do Provide L2/L3 production support for serverless microservices and BFF (Backend-for-Frontend) layers on AWS, including incident management, problem resolution, and root cause analysis for Lambda, ECS, AppSync, API Gateway, SQS, and EventBridge workloads. Monitor and maintain the health, performance, and availability of critical services: respond to alerts, manage job schedules and event flows, and ensure timely resolution of failures to meet SLAs. Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across the stack: Lambda timeouts and throttling, ECS task failures, API Gateway/AppSync errors, SQS backlogs, EventBridge rule failures, and integration issues with downstream systems. Maintain and optimise DynamoDB data stores for production workloads: investigate hot partitions, throttling, GSI/LSI performance issues, TTL behaviour, stream processing failures, and data consistency problems. Manage and secure VPC endpoints (gateway and interface) for DynamoDB, OpenSearch, and other services: troubleshoot connectivity issues, validate routing and DNS, and ensure private traffic remains within the VPC. What we’re looking for 5+ years’ professional software development experience, with at least 3+ years designing and operating production workloads on AWS. Deep hands-on expertise with AWS serverless and microservices services: Lambda, ECS/Fargate, API Gateway, AppSync, SQS/SNS, EventBridge, S3, CloudFront, WAF, Route 53, Certificate Manager, CloudWatch, X-Ray, ECR. Strong proficiency in at least one primary backend language (e.g., Node.js/TypeScript, Python, Java, or .NET) and experience building REST and GraphQL APIs at scale. Experience with Material UI (MUI) and modern front-end design practices, including responsive layouts, theming, and component customisation, with a solid understanding of web accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA) principles such as keyboard navigation, focus management, ARIA attributes, colour contrast, and screen-reader compatibility. Advanced understanding of DynamoDB data modelling and access patterns (single-table design, GSIs/LSIs, TTL, streams, transactions) and experience integrating DynamoDB with Lambda, AppSync, and ECS. Experience working in Agile/DevOps teams using tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitHub/GitLab, and service management platforms (e.g., ServiceNow) for incident and change management. Relevant AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer – Associate/Professional, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) or equivalent demonstrated expertise.
