Description

Job Description Fortaegis builds hardware-based security technology and products. We're looking for an Application Engineer who can sit at the intersection of customers, product, core engineering, and R&D, turning Fortaegis technology and products into working, custom solutions for real customer environments. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role. You'll be the technical bridge between what customers need and what our engineering and R&D teams build, designing and building custom applications on top of Fortaegis technology and products, standing up and maintaining demo/PoC platforms, and being a trusted technical voice in customer conversations. Job requirements Software engineering experience, ideally with some exposure to embedded systems (firmware, low-level networking stacks, hardware-software interfaces, or similar).Strong fundamentals in networking, L2/L3 concepts, Ethernet, IP, NAT, VLANs, routing/switching basics, and comfort reasoning about network topology and traffic flow.Demonstrated experience working directly with customers, technical discovery, solutioning, troubleshooting live issues, or supporting deployments in customer environments.Ability to build and maintain applications end-to-end: comfortable writing production-quality code, not just scripts or prototypes.Strong communication skills, able to translate between customer language, product language, and engineering language without losing precision.Self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity, this role sits across teams and will often need to define its own scope. Nice to Have Prior experience working with or deploying network security products (encryptors, firewalls, VPN appliances, NAC/access-control systems, or similar).Experience with cryptographic concepts (PKI, symmetric/asymmetric key infrastructure)Experience building or supporting customer-facing demo environments, sandboxes, or lab infrastructure. Background in a hardware security, telecom, or defense/critical-infrastructure customer segment. Job responsibilities Work directly with customers to understand their network environments, security requirements, and integration constraints, translating these into technical requirements for the product and engineering teams.Design, build, and maintain custom applications and integrations on top of Fortaegis technology and products to meet specific customer or partner use cases.Build and maintain demo and proof-of-concept platforms, reliable, repeatable environments used in customer evaluations, trials, and technical sales conversations.Act as the technical liaison across Product, Core Engineering, and R&D, feeding customer and field insight back into the roadmap and pulling engineering context out to customers and partners.Support pre-sales and post-sales technical engagements: solution scoping, technical demonstrations, PoC execution, and troubleshooting in customer environments.Own the technical relationship through deployment, from initial technical discovery through integration, testing, and go-live support.Produce clear technical documentation (integration guides, deployment notes, demo runbooks) so solutions are repeatable and supportable beyond you.Provide field feedback on product gaps, edge cases, and customer-driven feature requests to Product and R&D. Additional information You won't be building in a vacuum, every application and demo you build will be shaped by real customer conversations, and every customer conversation you have will be informed by direct access to the people building the underlying technology. If you like working close to both the customer and the core engineering, and want ownership over how a hard security product actually gets deployed in the field, this role is built for that.
