QA Automation Engineer

About the RoleWe’re hiring a QA Automation Engineer with strong functional testing and analytical skills to help ensure the quality of complex fintech and enterprise applications. This role requires someone who can go beyond executing predefined test cases. You should be comfortable understanding complex business requirements, calculation-heavy workflows, integrations, and system dependencies; identifying missing scenarios and risks; and designing comprehensive tests that validate both the functionality and the underlying business logic. You will combine hands-on functional testing with automation, building and maintaining automated regression coverage across web applications, APIs, mobile applications, and integrated systems. Experience with Playwright and TypeScript is highly preferred. Key ResponsibilitiesPerform detailed functional testing of complex business processes, calculations, workflows, and rules-based systems.Analyze business and technical requirements to identify gaps, edge cases, dependencies, risks, and missing test scenarios.Design high-coverage test cases that validate both expected functionality and negative/exception scenarios.Develop and maintain automated tests and regression suites for critical business functionality.Design and maintain an automation strategy and roadmap across UI, API, integration, and mobile testing.Build and extend automation frameworks, preferably using Playwright with TypeScript.Create reliable automated suites for regression, smoke testing, and critical business paths.Perform integration and end-to-end testing across multiple applications, services, APIs, databases, and third-party integrations.Perform strong API testing and validation using tools such as Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, Newman, REST Assured, or pytest + requests.Validate backend data and application behavior using SQL and database queries.Test REST and GraphQL APIs, including request/response validation, authentication, error handling, data consistency, and integration behavior.Implement test data and test environment management strategies.Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, AWS DevOps, or similar tools.Support parallel test execution, test artifacts, reporting, retries, and failure analysis.Debug, document, and track defects using tools such as Jira/Xray, working closely with developers to reproduce, investigate, and resolve issues.Perform root-cause analysis of failed automated tests and distinguish application defects from automation or environment issues.Collaborate with Product Managers, Business Analysts, and Engineers to refine requirements and define clear acceptance criteria.Perform cross-browser and cross-device testing and coordinate mobile automation using Appium where required.Contribute to basic performance and security testing using tools such as k6/JMeter and OWASP testing principles.Maintain clear test plans, test cases, regression suites, execution reports, and QA runbooks.Track quality metrics including test coverage, automation coverage, defect leakage, flakiness, and regression results.Mentor team members and promote practical QA and automation best practices.Qualifications3+ years of professional QA experience, including at least 2 years working with test automation for web applications and APIs.Strong functional testing skills, particularly with complex business logic, calculations, workflows, and interconnected systems.Strong analytical and test-design skills with the ability to:Understand complex requirements and business rules.Identify missing or ambiguous requirements.Recognize edge cases and potential failure scenarios.Assess testing risks and priorities.Create comprehensive, high-coverage test cases.Experience performing integration and end-to-end testing across multiple systems and APIs.Strong API testing experience using Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, or similar tools.Working knowledge of SQL and database validation.Strong coding skills in TypeScript/JavaScript using Playwright or Cypress, or Java/Python using Selenium/pytest.Experience developing and maintaining automated regression suites.Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.Comfortable using Git, pull requests, and standard branching strategies.Strong understanding of testing methodologies, test design techniques, regression strategy, and defect lifecycle.Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work directly with developers to investigate and reproduce defects.Experience documenting and tracking defects using Jira, Xray, or similar bug-tracking/test-management tools.Familiarity with Dockerized test environments and automated test execution.Nice to HaveAdvanced Playwright experience, including fixtures, traces, parallel projects, retries, test IDs, and reusable test architecture.Experience testing financial calculations, lending platforms, fintech workflows, or rules/decision engines.Salesforce testing experience.Experience testing systems built with PHP/Laravel, React, or React Native.Mobile automation experience using Appium and device farms such as BrowserStack or LambdaTest.Performance testing experience using k6 or JMeter.Accessibility testing using axe or knowledge of WCAG principles.Experience with Xray, Allure, or quality analytics/reporting dashboards.AWS familiarity, including test environments and ephemeral infrastructure.What We’re Looking ForThe strongest candidate will not simply automate existing test cases. We are looking for someone who can understand how the business process is supposed to work, challenge requirements when something is missing, identify scenarios others may overlook, thoroughly test complex functionality and integrations, and then determine the right areas to automate for reliable regression coverage. This is a hands-on QA role requiring a strong combination of functional testing, analytical thinking, API and integration testing, defect investigation, and automation engineering.
