About the Role We are seeking an experienced Backend Developer specializing in Apache Fineract to build, customize, and maintain our core banking platform. You'll work on loan management, savings products, and financial APIs serving real customers. This is a fully remote role, employed through our local Latvia-based partner entity. Work Arrangement Fully remote (Latvia-based)Working hours: core overlap 10:00–18:00 ICT, with flexibility around delivery milestonesOccasional on-call rotation for production incident response (rotation shared across team) Key Responsibilities Customize and extend Apache Fineract: loan products, savings products, charges, and repayment schedulesDesign and build REST API integrations between Fineract and third-party systems (payment gateways, e-KYC providers, credit bureaus)Implement and maintain event-driven workflows using Apache Kafka / ActiveMQWork with the accounting module to ensure correct GL postings and reconciliationEnsure security, audit trails, and maker-checker controls meet Bank of Thailand expectations and PDPA requirementsWrite tests, documentation, and contribute improvements back where possibleCollaborate with frontend developers, QA, and compliance officers Required Qualifications 3+ years Java backend development (Spring / Spring Boot)Hands-on production experience with Apache Fineract (1.x / Fineract CN a plus)Strong SQL skills (MySQL/PostgreSQL)Experience with REST APIs and OpenAPI/Swagger toolingSolid understanding of core banking concepts: ledgers, double-entry accounting, loan amortizationExperience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelinesCommunicative English (written documentation required) Preferred Qualifications Experience with Mifos X or other Fineract-based frontendsFamiliarity with Thai financial regulations (Bank of Thailand, PDPA, AML/KYC requirements)Docker / Kubernetes deployment experienceKafka or other message broker experience in productionPrior work at a microfinance institution, digital lender, or licensed e-money operatorExperience integrating PromptPay or Thai payment rails Compensation & Benefits Salary: USD 3,000–5,000/month, negotiable based on experience Annual bonus / performance incentive (optional)Mandatory social insurance contributions (pension, healthcare, unemployment) per Latvian Labour LawAnnual leave: minimum 4 calendar weeks (20 working days)Paid sick leave per statutory entitlement12 public holidays per Latvia's official calendarLearning budget / conference allowance (optional) Contract Terms Position: Full-time employee Probationary period:up to 3 months (up to 6 months for senior-level roles; either party may terminate during probation with 3 working days' written noticeIP assignment agreement and confidentiality/NDA required (essential given access to financial systems)Background and criminal record check required before start date (standard for roles handling financial data) How to Apply: Please submit your CV and a brief cover letter highlighting your experience or regulated financial products to [thita@eminno.com]
