About the role We're hiring a Staff Software Engineer for the team behind one of the most widely-used CI/CD platforms in the world. They've built the tooling that many of the best engineering organisations on the planet (think the labs building frontier AI, and the household-name tech companies you'd expect) rely on to ship software every day. You'll join the team that owns test intelligence at scale: real-time flaky test detection and quarantining, intelligent test splitting, ownership mapping, and the analytics underneath it all. The team ingests test events at very high concurrency from some of the largest test suites in the world and turns that firehose into signal engineers can actually act on. Here's the problem that makes this interesting right now: AI agents are writing tests faster than any human can review them. The volume and velocity of test signal is exploding, and the systems that ingest and act on it need to be rebuilt for a world where both humans and agents are consumers. What you'll do Design and build high-throughput data pipelines that ingest and process test events at serious concurrency.Make the hard calls on data architecture — where relational holds up, where it stops being the right answer, and what to reach for instead.Own problems end-to-end in a small, high-agency team with very little process in the way.Talk directly to the engineering teams who use the platform and turn what you learn into product.Set technical direction as a genuine staff-level IC. About You Deep backend experience. Strong in Ruby or Go (or genuinely fluent in another backend language).Real scale, concretely. You can talk about the actual concurrency, throughput and API load you've dealt with — what broke first, how you found the ceiling, and what you did about it.Postgres depth — query performance, indexing, partitioning, and the judgment to know when to use it and when not to.Bonus: high-throughput / streaming systems — Kafka, ClickHouse, Flink, or similar serious data-streaming experience.AI-positive.
