At MediKIT, we are building technology that helps general practitioners spend their time where it matters most: providing care. With Nedap MediKIT, our general practitioner information system, we are working to improve the way general practices organize and deliver care. We build Nedap MediKIT entirely on open standards. The system is based on HL7 FHIR, the international standard for exchanging healthcare information electronically. This open approach makes it easier for other parties and systems to connect. Our architecture combines centralized data storage with microservices and a FHIR-based React frontend. As an experienced Backend Developer in the patient record domain, you will help develop the foundation of Nedap MediKIT as we continue to scale. Because the team is still relatively small, you will have plenty of room to take ownership and influence technical choices. You will work on different projects and challenges, collaborating closely with the rest of the team to make Nedap MediKIT ready for further growth. Start your application Your responsibilities You will focus primarily on the backend of the patient record domain within Nedap MediKIT. Your main responsibilities are: Develop new components for the Nedap MediKIT backend using Kotlin and Python. Improve the scalability and performance of Nedap MediKIT as the solution continues to grow. Strengthen the backend architecture and development pipeline. Work closely with UX designers, frontend and full-stack developers, and domain experts. Contribute to an open, learning-oriented team culture where you have the freedom to take initiative and turn ideas into improvements. Your team As a Backend Developer, you will join the Nedap MediKIT team: a close-knit, multidisciplinary team using technology to improve general practitioner care. Within MediKIT, you will be part of a smaller team focused specifically on the patient record domain. You will work closely with frontend developers, UX designers, and domain experts to build an integrated platform that genuinely supports healthcare professionals in their daily work. The team combines the pace and ownership of a startup environment with the experience and resources of Nedap. Your colleagues work across the Netherlands and beyond, with regular opportunities to meet in person at our locations in Groenlo, Nijmegen, and Utrecht. Our offer What's in it for you? The salary range for this role is €4,000 to €6,000 gross per month, based on a full-time employment contract of 38 hours per week. Your salary will depend on your relevant knowledge and experience. For this role, we are looking for: Experience: At least three years of experience developing backend applications. Experience with Kotlin, Java, or Python is a plus. Application development: Experience independently setting up, developing, delivering, and maintaining applications. Technical exploration: The ability to independently investigate what is needed and translate your findings into an appropriate technical approach. Scalability: Experience building scalable, maintainable applications or redesigning applications to improve their scalability and maintainability. Language: Professional proficiency in English. Dutch proficiency is a plus. Technology: Experience using AI in your development workflow is a plus. Experience with one or more of the following is also valuable: Azure, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL with JSONB storage, React, and TypeScript. Full-stack development: Full-stack development experience is a plus. Good to know: You are available for 32–38 hours per week.
