Senior Backend Software Engineer

Senior Software Engineer – Sydney Based A global financial technology business is building a new engineering team in Sydney. We’re looking for experienced Backend / Senior Software Engineers to join a high-performing engineering environment working on complex, high-scale financial technology. The role You will: Design and develop highly available, scalable backend systems.Own services from system design through to deployment and production.Work across complex, distributed systems and business-critical workflows.Design resilient architectures and asynchronous services.Build APIs and integrate with internal and external systems.Work closely with Product, Operations and international engineering teams. The business is technology agnostic, so strong backend engineers from a range of technology environments will be considered. What we're looking for Strong commercial backend software engineering experience.Experience designing and maintaining complex systems at scale.Strong understanding of distributed systems and service-oriented architecture.Experience working with cloud infrastructure and modern engineering practices.Experience with APIs, asynchronous processing and event-driven systems.Strong engineering fundamentals and a focus on reliability, scalability and maintainability.Experience working in a collaborative product/engineering environment. Relevant technologies may include Python | Django | FastAPI | PostgreSQL | AWS
