BRINC is recruiting exceptional engineers to build the next generation of autonomous emergency-response technology, including flight-critical firmware and advanced pilot-assistance capabilities.
About this Role:
As a Backend Engineer working on LiveOps at BRINC, you will build and manage the real-time backend infrastructure that keeps our public safety drones connected, streaming, and fully operational in high-stakes environments.
You will own the live operational stack, focusing on low-latency telemetry, video distribution, remote control links, and system uptime when seconds matter most.
You’ll work at the intersection of backend engineering, cloud infrastructure, and hardware-in-the-loop systems to ensure that when a drone deploys on a mission, the live operations platform is solid, secure, and performant.

Key Responsibilities:
Own the scalable backend platform that supports our worldwide real-time servicesEnsure our platform is secure, reliable, and performantBuild our platform infrastructure and toolingRapidly prototype new project ideas for customers and internal stakeholdersWork with cross-functional hardware and autonomy teams to solve challenges like streaming and displaying live drone data for non-technical users in a variety of formats
Qualifications:
Degree in computer science or a related field and 5+ years of experience shipping high-quality code and building robust infrastructureExperience building backend platforms, from the infrastructure up to the API layer (bonus if you’ve built real-time data platforms, scalable microservice architectures, and are experienced in dealing with security and encryption requirements)Experience with modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, etc) and are comfortable switching between software engineering and Cloud DevOpsFamiliarity with serverless architecture, and understand the tradeoffs between performance and cost when running servers at scaleDemonstrated experience with cloud architectures focused on scale, performance and security
Preferred Skills:
Experience with real-time systems or embedded software developmentFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practice

Compensation Range: $142K - $265K
