Description

Senior Software Engineer — Full Stack, Front-End Lean Supply’d is growing, and we’re looking for another Senior Software Engineer to join our team. We build an ERP for food manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers, covering everything from inventory, production, and warehousing, through to purchasing, delivery, quality management, and AI automation. You’ll be joining a seven-person company and working closely with our lead developer, Matt (he’s chill). Our development team is small today, but over the next 12 months we’ll be growing, which means you’ll have the opportunity to help shape the engineering standards and workflows we put in place as the team grows. We’re looking for a strong generalist with a front-end lean. You should be comfortable taking a feature from idea through to production, but we’d particularly love someone who cares about building great interfaces and making complex operational software easy for people to use every day. What you’ll be doingYou’ll work directly with the team to plan each sprint and then have a high degree of autonomy over your work, which includes: Taking end-to-end ownership of features and improvementsBuilding new functionality across our PHP and JS applicationProgressively improving and modernising existing parts of the applicationWorking across application, database, and infrastructure when neededContributing to product and UX decisions, not simply work from a specificationHelping establish development processes and standards as we expand the engineering team We deliberately run a sustainable and relaxed workload, where you’ll be involved in sprint planning and have input into what we commit to rather than being handed an unrealistic list of deadlines. Our stackOur core stack includes: PHP 8.4, with MySQL 8VueJS in the new bits, jQuery in the old bitsUbuntu Server, hosted on Vultr, DigitalOcean, and Cloudflare Supply’d is a large existing application, so we’re particularly interested in developers who understand vanilla PHP. If you have experience progressively modernising and scaling an established PHP application that would be highly valuable. What we’re looking forYou’re likely to be a good fit if you: Have strong commercial PHP experienceAre comfortable working outside of frameworksHave strong VueJS skills, and familiarity with jQueryHave a good eye for UX, and enjoy making software easier and faster to useAre confident writing SQL directly, as well as using an ORMCan work independently and take responsibility for getting something all the way into productionEnjoy solving business problems rather than simply completing development ticketsLike working in a small team where you can have a meaningful influence on both the product and how the company builds software You don’t need to know everything in our stack. We care more about strong fundamentals, the ability to take ownership, and desire to make good software. Bonus pointsExperience or knowledge in any of the following would be useful, but definitely isn't required: Inventory or ERP systemsAccountingFood manufacturing or industry-specific softwareUX / product designAI-assisted and “system of work” applicationsDevOps and infrastructure Why Supply’d?We’re building a modern alternative to the large, complicated ERP systems traditionally used by food businesses. The product is already being used across manufacturers, bakeries, butchers, wholesalers and retailers, and we’re entering the next stage of the company’s growth. For a senior developer, this is an opportunity to join early enough that you can genuinely influence the architecture, product and engineering culture — without the chaos or workload often associated with an early-stage startup. You’ll work closely with the people making product decisions, see customers using what you build, and have a lot of freedom to improve things when you think there’s a better way. If that sounds like the kind of environment you’d enjoy, we’d love to hear from you.
