Head of Frontend Engineering

We move fast, challenge conventions, and build experiences for highly engaged players who expect products to feel instant, polished, exciting, and alive. ⚡ Your Mission as Head of Frontend Engineering As Head of Frontend Engineering, you will own the technical direction and execution of our frontend systems across Ancient Gaming. You will lead and mentor our frontend engineers while staying close to the technology yourself. We are looking for someone who takes ownership, makes pragmatic decisions, challenges unnecessary complexity, and knows how to deliver high-quality software fast. Performance is critical to our products. You will set the standard for building frontend experiences that are fast, reliable, scalable, and maintainable while helping the team continuously improve how we build and ship. You will Lead and develop our frontend engineering team, creating a culture of ownership, accountability, and technical excellence.Own the frontend technical vision and architecture across our products.Stay hands-on and close to the code, especially around critical architecture, performance, and complex technical problems.Build and evolve our frontend applications using Qwik and TypeScript.Set an exceptionally high bar for performance, responsiveness, stability, and perceived speed.Make pragmatic technical decisions that balance delivery speed, simplicity, scalability, and long-term maintainability.Take end-to-end ownership of technical initiatives from architecture and implementation through production and continuous improvement.Work closely with Product, Design, Backend, and QA to solve problems rather than simply implement requirements.Improve our tooling, reusable components, engineering practices, and developer experience so the team can ship faster without sacrificing quality.Challenge assumptions and push for simpler and better solutions.Evaluate new technologies based on the actual value they can bring to our products and engineering teams.Mentor engineers and raise the technical standard of the wider organization.Expert knowledge of Qwik, TypeScript, modern JavaScript, CSS/SASS, GraphQL, and modern frontend architecture.Strong experience building complex, high-traffic frontend applications at scale.Deep knowledge of browser performance, rendering, networking, caching, real-time applications, and frontend optimization.Experience leading strong frontend engineers while remaining technically hands-on.Strong product thinking and an interest in understanding why something is being built, not just how to build it.A pragmatic approach to engineering. You know when to invest in architecture and when a simpler solution is the better decision.Experience with WebGL technologies such as PixiJS, Babylon.js, Three.js, or similar is a strong plus.Experience in iGaming, gaming, betting, casino, or similar high-traffic real-time products is a significant advantage.The ability to thrive in a remote-first environment with strong communication, discipline, and accountability.
