About the Client Engagement Our client is a Tier-1 global bank with nearly 60,000 employees worldwide and an AUM of $2.1 trillion, with a strong presence across fixed income and derivatives markets. Recognised for their investment in technology, they are undertaking a multi-year programme to modernise and strengthen their Front Office eTrading platforms supporting trading, risk, and regulatory functions. These platforms are critical for low-latency pricing, accurate valuations, competitive execution, and regulatory compliance. Consultants will work directly with Front Office users (traders, quants, risk and compliance teams) to deliver scalable, high-performance systems with tangible business impact. About the Programme The client is running a strategic multi-year initiative across its Fixed Income IT organisation to modernise core trading platforms. The programme covers Front Office pricing engines, maintaining and enhancing legacy components while transitioning to modern, microservices based architectures. Key priorities include improving data integration and distribution pipelines, strengthening system resilience, and enhancing execution workflows for products such as interest rate swaps, US treasuries, futures, and other fixed income asset classes. This transformation effort is highly visible, with quants and traders relying directly on these systems for pricing models, trade execution, and market connectivity. You will be hands-on in the design, coding, and optimisation of low-latency applications, collaborating closely with Front Office desks, quants, compliance, and IT teams. Roles and Responsibilities Design, develop, and enhance front office pricing engine/eTrading systemsEnhancing legacy codebases while also driving modernization/microservices transformationsDevelop and maintain system architectures, designs, and conceptsInterface directly with trading desks, quantitative analysts, and risk/compliance teamsMaintain and improve code quality via static/dynamic analysis, CI/CD pipelines, and security vulnerability scansDeliver across the full SDLC from analysis through to production support Key Skills The ideal candidate will bring the following skills: Strong Java (JDK 11/17) & Spring expertise, with experience in low-latency, high-throughput trading systemsKnowledge of fixed income instruments (IRS, CDS, bonds, treasuries, futures)Skilled in REST APIs, JMS (ActiveMQ), SQL (MS SQL/Sybase)Proficient in multithreading, concurrency, asynchronous/event-driven programmingExposure to microservices & distributed systems (Kafka, Camel, Kubernetes, OpenShift)Strong communicator with FO user engagement (Traders, Quants, Risk, Compliance)Bachelor’s/master’s in computer science or related field Nice to Have: Familiarity with pricing engines, RFQ workflows, execution connectivityKnowledge Integration with Bloomberg / Tradeweb / ION integration, and FIX protocolPrevious experience with fixed income technology teams
