Location: Cracow, Poland
Office Requirement: 6 days/month

Role Purpose
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining infrastructure automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and CI/CD pipelines across enterprise IT environments.
The role will focus on reducing manual operational effort by automating infrastructure provisioning, configuration, OS and database lifecycle activities, patching, software updates and platform operations.
The engineer will work closely with development, operations, OS, database and platform engineering teams to deliver secure, reliable and standardised infrastructure.
A key focus of the role is to improve consistency, security, auditability, reliability and speed of delivery across development and production environments.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for enterprise infrastructure using tools such as Terraform, Ansible or equivalent.Automate provisioning and configuration of compute, storage, network, OS and database-related infrastructure.Develop reusable modules, templates, roles and automation patterns to standardise infrastructure delivery.Automate OS and database lifecycle activities including provisioning, configuration, patching, baseline hardening and compliance activities.Design, implement and operate secure CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and platform changes.Develop and maintain Pipeline as Code, including quality gates, approvals, automated validation and change traceability.Integrate infrastructure automation with application delivery pipelines where required.Ensure enterprise controls such as segregation of duties, audit trails and secure secrets management are incorporated into infrastructure pipelines.Work closely with OS, database, patching and platform engineering teams to automate platform operations.Administer and secure Linux servers across development and production environments.Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, automation, deployment and configuration issues.Define and maintain infrastructure monitoring, alerts and dashboards covering availability, performance, capacity and change success rates.Contribute to infrastructure reliability, resilience and operational improvement initiatives.Participate in incident management, on-call/rota arrangements and root-cause analysis as required.Implement automated preventative and corrective solutions to reduce recurring incidents and operational risk.Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, SOPs and operational procedures.Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices across infrastructure and automation teams.Identify opportunities for automation, tooling and process improvements.Work effectively with development, operations and platform engineering teams in an Agile/DevOps environment.
Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications
Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline.5+ years of significant experience in infrastructure engineering, automation, DevOps or a related field.Strong hands-on experience delivering Infrastructure as Code (IaC) in enterprise environments.Strong hands-on experience with Ansible or equivalent automation tooling, including modular design and reuse.Practical experience with Terraform or equivalent IaC technologies.Proven experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and platform changes.Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash and/or PowerShell.Strong hands-on experience administering and securing Linux servers in development and production environments.Working knowledge of database infrastructure, including standard builds, configuration, patching, backup/restore and operational resilience.Strong experience with Git, including branching strategies, pull requests and code review workflows.Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills with the ability to resolve complex infrastructure and automation issues.Good understanding of security principles, including secrets management, least privilege and secure automation.Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder-management skills.Ability to work effectively across development, infrastructure, operations, OS, DB and platform engineering teams.Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments.
Desirable Skills
Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes, including platform enablement, automation and operational practices.Strong knowledge of observability, including metrics, logs, traces, monitoring and alerting.Experience with SRE practices, including SLIs, SLOs and error budgets.Experience with Policy as Code and compliance automation.Experience integrating infrastructure automation with ITSM/change-management processes.Experience with enterprise tooling such as artifact repositories, secrets vaults and CMDB platforms.Experience working in financial services or other regulated environments, particularly around change control, governance, security and audit readiness.Relevant certifications in Cloud, Terraform, Kubernetes, Red Hat or Microsoft technologies are advantageous.Practical hands-on engineering experience will be prioritised over certifications.
