## About the Role
Cradle is looking for Backend Software Engineers to help design and develop the software platform that exposes advanced machine learning models to scientific end users.
In this role, you will build service-oriented, decoupled web applications and work closely with biologists, machine learning experts, and scientists.
You will help solve technical challenges involving biological data, machine learning models, APIs, and scalable backend systems.
## Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop backend services for a service-oriented, decoupled web application.
* Architect data storage and representation for protein sequences, associated metadata, and machine learning model predictions.
* Design and develop APIs used to interact with machine learning models.
* Consider API versioning and long-term access to machine learning capabilities.
* Build and maintain backend systems in a modern cloud environment.
* Collaborate closely with biologists, machine learning experts, and scientists.
* Learn and apply concepts from software engineering, machine learning, and biology to solve complex technical problems.
## Required Qualifications
* Experience developing backend systems in a modern cloud environment.
