Senior Web Developer - Aerodynamics Software

Senior Web Developer (Aerodynamics Software) Formula 1 | Permanent | South East (3-4 days onsite) — Here's a question worth thinking about: how often does the software you build actually make something faster? For most developers, the answer is probably never. This role is different. This Formula 1 team is looking for a Senior Web Developer to help build the next generation of engineering software used by its Aerodynamics department. The applications you'll develop aren't customer portals or business systems - they're the tools aerodynamicists rely on to analyse Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), wind tunnel results and vast volumes of engineering data that ultimately influence the performance of the race car. It's a role for someone who enjoys solving difficult technical problems. The team is modernising a suite of desktop applications into React and TypeScript, allowing you to shape front-end architecture, establish best practices and build intuitive interfaces capable of visualising complex, real-time engineering data. What makes this role particularly interesting is the level of collaboration. You won't simply be working from tickets handed down by a Product Manager. Instead, you'll work directly with aerodynamicists, understanding how they think, the challenges they face and designing software that genuinely improves the way they work. We'll also be honest about what makes this challenging. Formula 1 moves quickly. Priorities change, deadlines are real, and you'll be expected to learn a completely new engineering domain if you haven't worked in motorsport before. The technical problems are complex, the users are exceptionally bright, and there's a constant expectation to improve and innovate.
