Senior Product Engineer - Insurance

About the role We are looking for a Senior Product Engineer (Insurance) to join us at an early stage of a strategically important initiative. In this role, you will help design and build core insurance systems from the ground up, working hands-on across backend and frontend, and collaborating closely with product and insurance domain experts. You will take ownership of features, contribute to technical discussions, and help shape how we build software as the team grows. You will have the opportunity to work on greenfield insurance technology, influence both product and technical decisions, and help scale Estonian-built innovation into solutions for international markets. What you’ll do • Take end-to-end ownership of product outcomes, not only technical implementation • Work directly with product and business stakeholders to understand customer problems and shape practical solutions • Contribute to product discovery, challenge assumptions, and help define what should be built • Build rapid prototypes and experiments to validate ideas before investing in full-scale solutions • Build and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot • Ship modern Vue.js user interfaces that turn product ideas into fast and clean customer experiences • Work with scalable systems, databases, and microservice-based architectures • Use customer feedback and product data to improve features after launch • Make pragmatic technical and product trade-offs to deliver customer value quickly • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders across teams What we expect from you • Strong experience in backend development with Java and Spring Boot • Strong experience shipping modern Vue.js UIs • Strong product thinking and the ability to connect technical decisions with customer and business value • Comfort working with ambiguity and turning loosely defined problems into working solutions • A bias toward shipping, learning and iterating based on real customer feedback • Ability to communicate directly with business stakeholders and contribute constructively to product decisions • Good judgment about when to build robustly, when to simplify and when to experiment • Knowledge of scalable systems, databases and microservice architecture • Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerisation and orchestration • Interest in understanding customer behaviour, business processes and product performance • A proactive mindset, strong ownership and the ability to work independently • Background in fintech or insurance is a plus • Fluency in English, both spoken and written Our tech stack • Java 21+, Spring Boot 3.x+ • Vue.js • PostgreSQL, MySQL • Microservices and REST APIs • AWS • Docker, Kubernetes What we offer • Work on meaningful fintech and insurance products that reach millions • A key role in a fast-growing international fintech company • Opportunities for personal and professional growth • Competitive salary with share options and/or annual bonus • Health or sports benefits, additional vacation days, and support for life events • A modern HQ office in the centre of Tallinn Hiring process We start with a short screening call.
