Description

We have been retained by a growing Dallas-based marketing and communications agency to hire a Web Development Manager. This is a highly hands-on role for an experienced developer who can own the technical delivery of complex client websites from discovery through launch. The ideal candidate is a strong Drupal developer with WordPress experience who is equally comfortable writing code, working directly with clients, and collaborating with UX and design teams. While this role has one direct report, this is not primarily a people-management position. The focus is on managing the successful delivery of web projects while remaining deeply involved in the technical work. What You'll Do Own the technical delivery of client website projects from discovery and requirements through development, launch, and ongoing support.Remain hands-on in development, particularly within Drupal and WordPress.Work directly with clients to understand their business requirements, recommend solutions, and translate those needs into technical requirements.Partner closely with UX and design teams to review sitemaps, wireframes, designs, functionality, and technical feasibility.Make technical architecture and development decisions for client projects.Manage project scope, development timelines, budgets, priorities, and deliverables.Build responsive, accessible, secure, and SEO-friendly websites.Integrate third-party APIs and platforms including CRM, ATS, search, mapping, and other business applications.Conduct QA, troubleshoot technical issues, and support ongoing website maintenance and security.Provide technical guidance and day-to-day support to one direct report. What We're Looking For 5–10+ years of web development experience.Deep hands-on Drupal development experience.Strong experience developing and maintaining WordPress websites.Strong knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.Experience owning complex, custom website projects from requirements through launch.Strong client-facing skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Experience working closely with UX and design teams to turn creative concepts into functioning websites.Strong understanding of accessibility, SEO, security, deployment, and web development best practices.Experience integrating third-party APIs and business applications.Comfortable balancing hands-on coding, client interaction, and project delivery. Agency or consulting experience is a strong plus, particularly for someone who has developed deeper relationships with clients and owned projects rather than simply moving between a high volume of accounts. Experience building B2B websites for organizations in manufacturing, healthcare, technology, professional services, or other complex industries is also valuable. The Opportunity This is a small, collaborative agency where you’ll have significant ownership over the work you deliver. You won't be managing a large development organization or spending your days in internal meetings. You’ll be building, solving problems, working with clients, partnering with designers, and making sure projects get delivered successfully. If you're a strong Drupal developer who enjoys coding but also wants greater ownership of clients and project delivery, this is an opportunity to do both. This role is Hybrid working in the Dallas Design District Tuesday-Thursday.
