Description
Ecommerce Experience Manager
Denver, CO (Northfield) | Full-time | Reports to: Lindsey Price, Co-Founder & CEO
About Denver Modern
Denver Modern is a founder-led, bootstrapped premium furniture brand headquartered in Denver.
We build solid-wood, real-upholstery, contract-grade pieces designed to age beautifully over decades — proudly anti-fast-furniture.
We’re on a $25M → $50M+ revenue arc, and denvermodern.com is the single most important surface where that brand promise gets proven and monetized.
This role owns it end-to-end.
The Role
We’re hiring a best-in-class Shopify Plus Ecommerce manager who thinks in systems — someone who can write, test, and deliver code across one of the most technically complex Shopify Plus builds in premium furniture: configurable upholstery, deep swatch and material logic, custom PDP components, third-party attribution, and a growing app stack that all has to load fast, convert, and report accurately.
This is a coding role first.
denvermodern.com is not a template site — it’s a production Shopify Plus application with real complexity, and you should be able to defend it end to end: Liquid, JSON templates, and Online Store 2.0 architecture across sections, blocks, and app blocks; extending the theme through metaobjects, metafields, and app-block architecture without turning it into spaghetti; knowing when to solve a problem in the theme, in an app, or in a Shopify Function (cart transforms, discount functions, delivery customizations, bundling logic); and integrating and auditing third-party layers like Klaviyo and Blotout — understanding what each costs in performance and how to sandbox or replace anything that misbehaves.
You’re the technical counterweight to a brand- and creative-led founder team — translating merchandising and campaign decisions into clean architecture, making the build-vs-buy calls, running CRO with an agency, protecting the data pipes behind every marketing decision, and driving traditional and AI-era SEO.
You hold a high visual bar for the site, because heirloom furniture can’t be sold from a page that looks like a template.
This role is scoped today as the founding technical seat for denvermodern.com, with a clear path to broader technical leadership as we scale — eventually the systems around Shopify (ERP, 3PL/WMS, trade/B2B, internal tooling) and a small technical team.
What You’ll Own
• Shopify Plus engineering & site quality: theme architecture (Liquid, Online Store 2.0, sections/blocks, metaobjects/metafields), Checkout Extensibility, Shopify Functions, and performance (Core Web Vitals, script governance) — backed by real QA and release discipline (automated regression testing, staged rollouts, launch-day checklists with zero tolerance for broken links, missing images, or pricing errors).
• Product data integrity: SKUs, variants, metafields, pricing, and specs — with templates and standards so every PDP performs consistently at scale.
• CRO strategy: own the agency relationship, testing roadmap, and hypothesis quality against real CVR and revenue targets.
• Marketing data infrastructure: partner on Meta Pixel/CAPI, Klaviyo events, GA4, and consent — you’re the site-side expert on what could break signal and why.
• SEO & AI discoverability: own technical and on-page SEO, plus how Denver Modern shows up in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Gemini answers — structured data, llms.txt, crawler access, and answer-shaped content.
• External developer management: scope, brief, and code-review contract Shopify developers against budget, holding their work to your own standard.
• AI-native workflow: use AI daily in your own coding (Cursor, Claude Code) and build repeatable AI-assisted processes the team can reuse.
What You Bring
• 5+ years operating a complex Shopify Plus site, ideally in premium, considered-purchase, or configurable-product categories.
• Best-in-class Shopify Plus development: Liquid, Online Store 2.0, Storefront/Admin APIs, metaobjects/metafields, Checkout Extensibility, Shopify Functions, and the app ecosystem.
• Strong front-end performance discipline and real QA/release rigor.
• CRO literacy and comfort partnering with an agency on hypothesis-driven, revenue-tied testing.
• Working knowledge of the marketing data stack (Meta Pixel/CAPI, Klaviyo, GA4, consent mode) and solid SEO fundamentals.
• Design judgment — you can explain why a module does or doesn’t read as premium, and hold that bar on everything that ships.
• Systems thinking beyond the storefront, with daily fluency in modern AI coding and workflow tools.
• Nice to have: furniture, home, or luxury ecommerce background; Shopify Plus and knowledge of Liquid Code; server-side tracking platforms; trade/B2B or financing platforms.

Why This Role Matters
