Role: Senior Backend Software Engineer – Payments Locations: New York City or San Francisco Work Arrangement: Hybrid—3 days onsite Experience: 6–12 years Industry: Fintech/Healthtech startup Position Overview An early-stage AI-native fintech/healthtech company is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to help develop a revenue operating platform processing more than $1 billion in annual payments for senior-care operators across 45 states. This is a high-ownership position working closely with the CTO. The engineer must independently handle ambiguous problems, make architectural decisions, and deliver production-ready solutions. Required Qualifications 6–12 years of backend software engineering experience.Strong hands-on experience with Node.js, Express, JavaScript and TypeScript.Strong PostgreSQL and relational database experience.Recent payment-processing, payment-platform or transaction-system experience.Previous startup or early-stage company experience.Experience owning projects from design through production deployment.Strong system-design and backend-architecture skills.Stable employment history. Preferred Qualifications Healthcare, healthtech or senior-care technology experience.Experience with claims, billing or revenue-cycle workflows.Experience developing AI-powered automation.Experience working directly with founders, CTOs or product leadership.
