Description

Role Summary The Fenics Market Data Analytics team are recruiting for a KDB developer to come and work in a real time data analytics team. A successful candidate will join the team and focus on expanding our KDB data capture, analytics and reporting platforms. Initially focusing on increasing the breadth and scope of the plant, increasing capacity and improving parallel access/processing; the role will expand from there and require the candidate to delve into the workings of multiple asset classes and business lines, extracting the valuable data and delivering products based on that data. Our multidisciplinary team – made up of quantitative analysts, data analysts, data scientists, product specialists, developers and testers – is responsible for the development and production of data for the Fenics Market Data business. This data is widely used both internally and externally and as such we aim for the highest possible standards. Each project is typically developed with a cross-section of team members from the different disciplines. This multi-discipline collaboration enables individuals to gain exposure (and contribute) to what other parts of the team and organisation are doing. Key Responsibilities • Working on the KDB plant: o Collecting and using the data o Improving the plant • Working with stakeholders to understand and document requirements • Delivering real-time and periodic analytics solutions to meet the business requirements • Research & Development of approaches to solve new and existing problems Skills / Experience • Essential o Strong KDB+ system building, maintenance & plant ownership experience o Track record of building KDB plants from the ground up, working on hardware specifications through to business deliverables o Creation of Algorithms in Real-Time Engines o Experience with high-throughput messaging technologies o Experience of data-driven development and unit-testing, mocking and back-testing o SDLC tooling such as GIT and Jenkins o Essential Language: KDB+/Q • Desirable o Background with multiple asset classes is an advantage o Experience with TORQ • Advantageous previous exposure: o Electronic Trading Systems & Execution Platforms o Execution & Hedging Algorithms o Pricing and Risk systems o Data Science skills o Container frameworks and the tooling that goes with them o Additional desirable languages/technologies: ▪ Python, Java, C++, C#, C Personal Attributes • Problem solving: o Proven ability to take complex business requirements and translate these into tangible, workable and commercially smart solutions while leveraging best practice tools and techniques • Analytical: o Ability to understand and respond to complex problems, draw and present the right insight and recommendations effectively o Collaborative approach to working as part of a global team o Confident communicator o Capable at managing your own workload, while providing regular feedback to management o To be alert to Conduct Risk issues, specifically the risk of harm to client interests, market integrity and/or competition in financial markets due to inappropriate practices or behaviours across the firm
