About the Role
Theori is seeking an experienced Backend Software Engineer to help architect and build the core backend systems powering its AI-driven cybersecurity platforms.
As part of the North American engineering team, you will work on distributed backend systems, APIs, data pipelines, and infrastructure supporting LLM agent workflows and real-time security scanning.
This is a foundational engineering role for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, designing systems for scale and reliability, and taking ownership from design through deployment.
The ideal candidate has strong Python backend development experience, with expertise in technologies such as FastAPI, Redis, PostgreSQL, and Docker.
3.
Key Responsibilities
Architect, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs supporting Theori's AI-driven security platforms.
Design distributed systems for performance, scalability, reliability, and fault tolerance.
Develop secure, well-structured APIs in collaboration with product and frontend engineering teams.
Build and optimize data pipelines supporting LLM agent workflows and real-time scanning.
Establish backend engineering standards, coding practices, and CI/CD processes for the growing US engineering team.
Develop clean, well-tested, maintainable Python code and related backend technologies.
Design and optimize production systems for performance and reliability.
Contribute to backend architecture and technical decision-making as product requirements evolve.
Drive projects independently from system design through implementation, testing, and deployment.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative, high-quality engineering culture.
Help establish scalable engineering practices within an early-stage, AI-first environment.
4.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of professional software engineering experience building production systems.
Strong proficiency in Python.
Proven experience developing reliable backend services, preferably using FastAPI.
Strong understanding of system design, distributed architectures, and performance optimization.
