Position: Data Platform Engineer (Database development)
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid - 3 days/week onsite)

Role Overview & Core Expectations:
This is a Backend Platform Engineering role focusing primarily on Python microservices development, coupled with Snowflake-native data application development.
Candidates will be evaluated primarily through a Backend Engineering panel to assess platform architecture, Python, and microservices capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate financial business logic into performant backend features and data products.
• Design and deploy scalable microservices within the FastAPI ecosystem with clear service boundaries and OpenAPI/Swagger documentation.
• Design and develop Snowflake-native applications using Snowpark (Python), stored procedures, tasks, streams, and dynamic tables for day-end processing engines.
• Write and optimize SQL queries against Snowflake and PostgreSQL for analytical and reporting workloads.
• Own end-to-end feature delivery from API contract design to testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Ensure security and access controls utilizing OAuth2, JWT, RBAC, and OWASP Top 10 standards.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• 10+ years of professional full-stack or backend software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on proficiency in Python, FastAPI async patterns, Pydantic, and RESTful API design.
• Proven experience with Snowflake data development (Snowpark Python, Tasks, Streams, Stored Procedures) and SQL query optimization.
• Solid background in microservices architecture, Docker, CI/CD, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Payments or FinTech industry experience is highly preferred.
• Must reside in/near Toronto, ON for 3 days/week onsite work.
