About The Role Hungryroot is looking for a Senior Engineer to join our growing Engineering team. This senior software engineer will drive the technical design, implementation, testing, maintenance, and quality of important features and integrations on the backend team. These include REST API endpoints, database schema changes, translating business logic, performance tuning, security hardening and other critical features. They rely on their own experience while performing additional research as necessary, to arrive at the best solution for each task. They can independently execute projects, proactively raise issues and resourcefully unblock themselves. Some form of mentoring and guiding less experienced or new developers on the team is required. They can constructively debate any issue, persuade others with hard evidence while staying objective and open to changing their mind. They will be the backbone of our entire API engineering team. Responsibilities Own critical overarching aspects of engineering infrastructure. This does not necessarily mean owning any particular service, but rather, owning the system by which all the services are strung together, or owning the process by which services are designed, implemented and maintained.Drive important technical discussions and help the team arrive at the best possible solution given any constraints we may face.
