About the Opportunity HummingBird is hiring a Python Developer on behalf of its client, a leading technology organization based in San Diego, California. We are looking for an experienced Python Developer to design, develop, test, and maintain scalable software applications and backend services. The ideal candidate will have strong Python programming expertise, solid software-engineering fundamentals, and experience building robust, high-performance applications in enterprise environments. The successful candidate will work closely with software engineers, architects, product managers, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders to deliver reliable and scalable technology solutions. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable applications and backend services using Python.Write clean, efficient, maintainable, and well-documented code.Develop RESTful APIs and backend services for enterprise applications.Translate business and technical requirements into effective software solutions.Design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure application architectures.Develop unit tests, integration tests, and automated testing solutions.Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application and production issues.Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.Work with databases and data-storage technologies to build efficient data-access layers.Integrate applications with internal and third-party APIs and services.Participate in code reviews and contribute to software-engineering best practices.Collaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, and production support.Contribute to architecture discussions and technical design decisions.Maintain technical documentation for applications, APIs, and development processes.Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning and delivery.Mentor junior developers and contribute to team knowledge-sharing initiatives. Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.6–10 years of professional software-development experience.Strong hands-on experience with Python.Excellent understanding of object-oriented programming and software-engineering principles.Strong experience developing backend applications and REST APIs.Experience with Python frameworks such as Django, Flask, FastAPI, or equivalent.Strong understanding of databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or similar.Experience with Git and modern software-development workflows.Strong knowledge of unit testing and automated testing practices.Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Technical Skills Experience with several of the following will be an advantage: Python: Django, Flask, FastAPI, Pandas, NumPy.Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis.APIs: REST, GraphQL, microservices.Cloud: AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD.Messaging: Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies.Testing: PyTest, unittest, Selenium, or equivalent.Architecture: Microservices, distributed systems, event-driven architecture.Experience with Linux/Unix environments.Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and cloud-native development is a plus.
