Xestro is growing rapidly, and we’re looking for an Infrastructure Engineer – Linux & AWS to help operate and modernise our established production infrastructure based in Maroochydore. About Xestro Xestro is an Australian healthcare software company that helps specialist doctors manage their patients and run their practices. Our cloud-based platform is used daily in hundreds of busy clinics across Australia by thousands of healthcare providers. We’re based in Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast, close to the Sunshine Plaza, and have recently moved into a multi-storey office to support our next phase of growth. Our platform includes an established Linux, Apache, PHP and MySQL environment running on AWS, alongside a newer Kubernetes-based platform. We’re continuing to improve the reliability, security and automation of our existing infrastructure while progressively modernising the wider technology estate. The Role Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you’ll join our Platform team in our Maroochydore office and take an active role in managing the Linux and EC2 infrastructure supporting our core production platform. The work includes Linux fleet administration, AWS infrastructure, Apache and PHP services, RDS, monitoring and observability through Datadog, incident response, capacity management, patching and automation. You’ll help reduce reliance on manually managed systems, improve operational documentation and progressively bring the established platform under repeatable, version-controlled infrastructure management. You’ll also help set operational standards, identify systemic risks, guide technical decisions and share your Linux and production operations experience across the team. You’ll work closely with experienced software, platform and infrastructure engineers. This role suits someone who enjoys understanding how complex production systems actually behave, diagnosing problems from first principles and making practical improvements without losing sight of reliability. Once settled in, the role participates in a shared, paid on-call incident response rotation. About You You may come from a traditional systems administration, infrastructure engineering, cloud operations or SRE background.
