Ai Engineer - 12 Month Freelance (Detavast) - Utrecht Hybrid Job Title: Ai Engineer Location: Utrecht (1 day onsite, 4 remote) Contract Length: 12 Month Contract with opportunity to extend Start Date: As soon as possible About the Role We're looking for a strong Mid-Senior Engineer to join a growing Conversational AI team. Following the merger of two previously separate teams, you'll play a key role in building, improving, and deploying chatbot solutions while helping create a collaborative and effective team culture. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership, delivering production-ready solutions, and working in an environment where priorities can evolve quickly. You'll be expected to contribute both technically and as a supportive teammate who helps drive collective success. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and enhance AI-powered chatbot solutions.Build and implement RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) solutions.Deploy applications into production environments and support ongoing improvements.Collaborate closely with team members across chatbot and document-processing domains.Take ownership of technical decisions, balancing trade-offs and delivering practical solutions.Adapt to shifting business priorities while maintaining delivery excellence.Share knowledge and contribute to a strong, collaborative team culture. Required Skillsets Strong Python development experience.Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.Proven experience building RAG-based AI solutions.Experience deploying applications into production environments.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Ability to take ownership and independently drive workstreams.Comfortable explaining implementation decisions, technical trade-offs, and project impact.Fluent English. Nice to Have Experience within financial services or other regulated industries.
